strange cloning problem

So i have an aero cloner that i made outta a 20gal tupperware, using it for the 1st time. this is not the 1st one ive made. i have made others the exact same and have had no problems. im using a 2 bulb t8 light fixture and for the 1st 13 days the light was about 2" away until i recently moved it up to 8" away. the problem that im having is that the roots are very slow starting (15 days only 2 have rooted), but they are starting. the problem is that the roots are starting inside the neoprene, not below it like they should. does anyone know why this is happening and how can i fix it. maybe too much water spraying? too much light? i have used these aero cloners before and have gotten 100% success in as soon as 5 days. WTF?

thx for trying alpha. i guess i could post a pic of a bare stem w no roots. i just thot i could explain it. basically the few clones that are beginning to grow roots are growing them inside the 2" neoprene inserts. im 99.9% positive no light is getting in. ph is 5.8. water line is pvc pipe. but thx for the reply bud.

in the neoprene inserts only... sounds as if your solution may not be strong enough did you use clonex gel? whats the water temp? i have mine around 75

when you master the aerocloner diy and nutes and ph it will take 2 days to have roots thats how long it takes me most currently sometimes less. im not the best but the amount of fuckups and exp. count alot for me about this.

2 days holy shit. what do u use? i use clonex gel and pure ro water 1st week. 2nd week 120ppm calmag, aqua flakes base a&b, and roots excelerator total ppm 250-300. ph 5.6. although ive rooted in pure ro water and no gel before.

2 days for calluses maybe.. for a real root system you need two weeks, that if your strain is a fast cloner.. I've also had roots grow in the neoprene plug, it's always a node in there getting moist.

ya ive had it happen before here and there. but this is happenning to every one of them. there are no nodes inside the neoprene. all the nodes are below

Then probably the pipes are too close to the lid, the stems are not taking kindly the hard splash while you've got root anyways growing inside the plugs.. makes a bit of sence to me

In my aero-cloner, managing PH and temps with Tap or RO water, my strains seem to root super slow (mostly indicas). 2 weeks for the nubs, and then they blow up within about another week. The location on the stem where the roots come out varies greatly, and usually they actually don't start from the sterilized 45 degree cut point from me. Usually from a higher node, or just randomly out the side of the stalk. I had been trying variables in cutting styles to figure it out, and try to get faster rooting times, but I really think its generally strain dependent. Even if I don't manage PH and temps, my cloner always produces roots eventually. It doesn't matter where the roots start, just let them fill out to whatever size you are comfortable with and transplant.

hormex and tap water i will ph down to about 5.4 sometimes. no listen i know you use ro but there are times when tap can be better since your little cutting is not really absorbing to much(after you stick it in the hormex for 2 min) the chlorine will allow you to run a higher temp. my air pump takes air from in my cool tube buy my light (co2 enviro need o2 and warm air) so my water can get up to 80 degrees. i have 3 gallons water 3ml of hormex .5 ml of superthrive in a 5 gal bucket a 250 gph pump 6 sprayers and 14 holes in the lid with foam squares on top for the clones to sit in (usually only have about 5-8 in there) dont know my ppm but it has taken alot of fuck ups to get it down to the 2 day mark. another thing is if you cant inject warm air put a heating pad underneath. dont try the heat thing without either enzymes, kelp, or chlorine/tap water
