Yes, I clone them in jiffy, and transplant into smart pot when root out. I didnt have space to fit in 12 bucket by the time.
so I just put smart pot in system fill with hydroton
that could be part of your problems. it is probably not draining water as fast as it should.

i would put the jiffy plug into a netpot (5 or 6 inch) and then fill with hydroton. then put the netpot in the ebb buckets and fill in with more hydroton.

Are you saying could be smart pot cause this problem?
I was having bad time with DWC last run. like what you suggest.
I veg them in net pot with grow rocks. water temp cause more problem.
Its even hotter right now. thats why I try smart pot.
I put 70% hydroton 30% rockwool in smart pots.
They didnt look happy when I gave them small amount of nutes I guess i was EC 0.5.
then I just water PH tap water without any nutes.
They seems more happy that way

In preveg I use clonex...
havent try that before. All my clones were used some powder supply for root that I got it from local gardening store.
With clonex, what growing method you use for rooting clones? How big you let them sit there till you switch them to veg?

do you have any netpots on hand? if so, take one of the smart pots out, carefully remove all the hydroton/rockwool, put the clone into a netpot and fill the netpot with hydroton. then put that into the ebb bucket.

just try one and see if it helps before you do all of them like that

and the rockwool once it gets wet will stay wet too long. i'd go 100% hyrdoton. just make sure you rinse it a few times to get dust off
I heard about that too. but also heard ppl say rockwool is good for ebb system.
I see some people recommend use straight small pieces rockwool in bucket. that way it get best to drink nute...

i've never done ebb so i can't say for sure. but i think the combination of rockwool inside the smart pot is going to keep it too wet all the time

Rdwc ... 3 to 4 sets before on seedlings but on clones until they have a fist sized root mass. Clonex has a pinch more P for root development Im also a big fan of kelp and humic. Then off to the races at 1.0 till flower.

I have one plant that didnt veg in smart pot. clone in jiffy into Ebb bucket with straight hydroton.
I go see how she is

that would be how i'd do it. should fill and drain much better that way.
Only lower fan leaves have some burn on tips.
I believed I wasnt there when in jiffy.

Do you think I should try another one in smart pot into 100% grow rocks?
seems like it still have Def. when go straight grow rock.

the only thing i see is a bit of tip burn. not too bad though.

what nutes are you using? what pH?

EC is around 0.6 correct?
Look at the beginning of this thread, they were like this when I veg for last run.
I worry about could be same issue, but I didnt have fabric pot in the buckets last run tho.
im using GH maxigro. PH 5.8
I set EC 0.4. It goes up to 0.6 in 24hrs. I drain some off and top some EC 0.1 PH tap water to lower the EC to 0.4
today is the third time I lower EC. I think just kind of strange that EC keep going up when I have EC low like this

pH is great. maxigro is great.

your EC going up and the tip burn is telling you it's too strong. for plants that size, i go for EC at 0.2 or 0.3

have you ever tried using RO water and not tap water?

Yes that's why I lower the nutes. Once I see EC go up. Also curious why still have .4 EC in the res. When I only add one table spoon maxigro for 120 liter res. Also drain off half tank of nutes water, top off ph tap water for three times.
My tap water is .1 EC by the way

Never use RO water before, but i have fine harvest with tap water in previous grow

I have to ask it's been killing me all day. "How well did you rinse your balls" how many times a day you feeding?

Just dump all the res fill up with Ph water
Maxigro half teaspoon
EC 0.1 ph 5.9
I know EC 0.1 could be kind of low, but I decide go easy on it. Let's see how they react
