Sub sections.

I would like to request a 'Passive Hydro' section that includes 'Hempy' style growing.

Its really one of the simplest forms of growing but still requires quite a bit of knowledge for the uninitiated. I feel it would be a positive addition to RIU and would give growers a central place to show off there techniques.

Could this happen? I see lots of similar requests but are new sections ever added?

Edit:
I or others on the W.O.H thread would even be willing to write a sticky on Hempy style and the various substrates used.

Our passive hydro section is called Deep Water Culture, and it's a subforum of the Hydroponics Forum.

I always thought the use of a pump, albeit air pump made DWC active hydro if anything. ... In DWC, the airpump is still used to agitate and move the res about.

When 'I' describe 'passive', I speak of without the use of pumps. basically, just using capillary action or wicking. In the same way as growing in soil is a passive method, but obviously not hydroponics.

It was just a suggestion anyways. :peace:

I appreciate your suggestion, I just don't think we need another forum for passive hydro when we have the DWC forum.

FWIW active hydro is a system where the nute solution is pumped, and passive is when the solution stays in the res. So DWC is passive, even though the solution is bubbled, it stays in the res. Then GH devised the WaterFarm, which is a passive bucket that has the nutes pumped up into a drip ring, so that changed a passive system to active.

Thanks for the reply dude. Its appreciated and noted.

But can I suggest that Hempy grows, gravity fed systems and other low tech methods of growing fit poorly into the DWC thread. A passive thread or similar would have complimented the advanced methods thread really well.

OK, don't mean to go on about it. just my thoughts.

Peace man and Happy New Year.
