subcools soil mix life span

After mixing and letting soil sit for 30 days what is the life span of the soil before I would have to start begin top feeding? Looking to do an outdoor grow this year.

I believe all you gotta to do when you use it is to re-activate it, ... it will never go ''bad''. When it's been more than 2 months I use Compost tea on first watering.

I just got started back up after almost two years off I'm planning on using my old batch when I transplant I'll probably hit it with an AACT first though and some dolomite lime.

I am not a 100% sure here but im thinking that the shelf life of soil is pretty long. I mean its just dirt guys. All the nutrients in it are still in it a year from now as long as it hasnt been used and anything grown in it. Maybe 10 years down the road it might lose a little spark to it but If its in a garbage can covered im sure it can sit for a few years and be fine. I honestly dont know but its just dirt so i dont see how dirt could get old.

Hi. I would also suspect storage of pre-mixed "Super Soil" or variants could be stored for quite some time. Conditions of storage may play into what would need to be done to optimize the mix after long storage. If left too wet in containers, green mold may develop. If left outside, uncovered some of the nutrients may be leached out. If kept relatively dry, cool and protected, all I would do is to re-innoculate and let the beneficial bacteria grow for a few weeks.

I'm only activating half of the batch I just mixed. The other half will live in 32 gallon trash cans in the basement until needed.

It doesnt say anything about the life span of SS in that article it merely says that he uses the mix for up to a year. Im guessing that he runs out then makes more. I really dont know but i think that the Soil is fine for a few years atleast.

I pretty much do the same thing. I have used Super Soil as old as 6 or 7 months with no problems just keep the soil moist with some R/O water and you should be fine.

R/O water? Shit, up here in Montana we just dunk a bucket in the pond. You must be a city boy.

No I'm a desert boy from AZ where we dont get much water, most of the water comes from Waste Water Treatment plants and into steel tank reservoirs..... Our drinking water sucks..

I am on my third year of an old recipe batch and it is still growing kick ass meds. Just keep wetting it down to reactivate. Remember it is just dirt.

not sure where to post this but will in a few spots. Question i have is the general hydroponics cocotek full of salts still? meaning not rinsed? I used ro water to wet the brick and the ppm on water i sqeezed out is over 1000, seems to me that i need to rinse it a few times before i use it. I think i will find an old pillow case and fill with coco, over a trash can or sink or tub whatever it maybe pour r/o water on it till its comin out low ppm?

So once I place the plant in the pot with a 3 week veg I shouldn't have to top feed thru out the rest of the grow
