Switching to LED from HPS

Hello, I have been running a 600 HPS but the electricity bill is becoming way to expensive.
I am aiming for a veg tent and a flowering tent however the LED light I have available in my country is the Apollo 8 (290w), so what I was considering was buying two but having one in each tent but how many plants (Normally do a 2 month veg with the HPS) can the light support with a topping training technique?

Hi,
According to the Apollo 8 specs. your lighting area should be between 10.2 m2 at 1m and 22.9 m2 at 1.5m. I think they recommend 3x3ft area at 24" above the canopy, at the most, so 2-4 plants might be ideal. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the various training techniques.

Coverage is 3' X 3' but a friend used one in a lined 4' X 4' tent and got 1-1/2 pounds off 4 plants with one. You do have to ventilate but whatever.

Topped, supercropped and SCROG.

We have been using spyder leds for about 1.5 yrs now and in my opinion they are a great light. We have been consistently getting an average of 1.75 gram per watt depending on strain and veg time. With the optional 220 cord power consumption is 3 amps at 633 watts. The heat they put off is very negligible, we cool our 1750sqft. op with a 4 ton. I have more info but I don’t want to seem like I work for spyder. I hope this helps anyone conflicted about switching to leds.
