Systemic Lupus and MMJ

The past week has been hell...

I gues it started several weeks ago, when my wife had nasty headaches and slight fevers. The following week, she got a scaly rash on her face and forearms and swelled like she was having an allergic reaction. This week, I watched her experience pain like I've never seen. She couldn't move. She couldn't even lay still without severe pain. We almost had to cut her wedding/engagement rings off due to swelling. I had to saty home from work and help her to and from the bathroom. The dickhead doctor she went to thought she was pill shopping and gave her a scrip for potassium. I tried Ibuprofin, acetametophine, asprin, various NSAIDS, nothing worked.....except marijuana. Unfortunately, all I could get my hands on at the moment was schwag as Med MJ is not yet legal in my state and everyone I know is in veg or early flower, but it took the edge waaaay off. After seeing another doctor who told us she was experiencing all the signs of systemic lupus (now confirmed), she was prescribed some crazy pain pills I've never heard of...those didn't work either....we continued with the MJ regimen, with excedrine PM to "sleep it away." She's doing better now. Her flare is almost over. We're still learning alot about this awful disease.

Does anyone else out there have any helpful advice/strain specifics to help when it returns? I can't stand to watch my wife in such pain. She often said she wanted to rip her knees and elbows off. I can't imagine pain of that caliber for 48 hours.

It would be nice to have a chart of the common strains of MJ and what ailments each strain are most effective at alleviating. It has become evident that indicas are the best for relieving pain, but are there more specifics than that? Are there strains that are better vs. lower back pain or better relieving headaches? Lupis, Crohns Disease...what are the best strains for those?

i, too, have systemic lupus along with fibromyalgia and reynaud's phenomenon. I am sorry for what your wife is going through, it is a hard disease to live with. Needless to say I am in constant pain and I use mj to treat my lupus as the pills my rheumatologist put me on don't work and frankly, i don't want to take the naproxen (strong rx nsaid). the only thing that helps with the constant pain and joint aches is mj. the only unfortunate part is i live in a state that doesn't have mmj laws and i have to rely on the shwag i can get. But in the end it works.

i just wanted to add that recent marijuana studies show that the thc actually blocks the immune reaction at the inflammation site since thc is an immunosuppressant. so not only does the mj treat the pain but it also stops the immune system from attacking the various body parts affected with sle!

I am not a doctor but ph plays a huge role in overall health of humans and plants as well. Foods high in acid like sugar, alcohol, meats in typical serving sizes create inflammation. Alkalinizing ones body takes healthy amounts of vegetables like leafy greens, carrots, beans, nuts. The decision to alkalinize is beneficial to the colon, heart, brain and promotes nutrient availability which makes everything operate better. For those suffering, please look further into this, there is help here.
