Hey guys. I would really like to know the truth on this one, is tapwater really bad for soil microbes. I heard it can kill them, which kinda worries me. Ive seen plenty of people water there vegetable gardens with water from a hose. My dad waters his tomatoes all the time with a hose when its to hot out. Sometimes he leaves the sprinkler on and my girl gets a drinking of tapwater. I dont really like him doing it, but what am I going to do, tell him to fuck off with his sprinkler when its his house and im growing in his backyard. So please tell me is this bad from the soil microbes?

i been using tap water since the start of my grow and it's alive (still small tho since it was in a bad spot for a while). the main thing that can fuck it up is pH. my dad uses the hose for his tomatoes too and they are GIANT. largest producing tomato plants i've ever seen and taste like candy :)

Tap water in LA is not gonna be the same as tap water at your retreat in the mountains so this is somewhat pointless to get opinions on. My tap water is ph 6.9 with around 75 tds.

tapwater from sink or water house can be different ph in many locations , it can be bad or it can be good , dont know what mine is but i get mine from the ground water , and my plants love it , i usually let the water rest for 24 hours or mor.
But if your plants are growing i dont think you need worry.
I would assume anything that can kill microbes can kill your plant. or at least stunt them .
How old are your plants ?
what kind fo soil are you using ?

Tap water somtimes has bleach and as you might have guessed bleach kills bactiria but if you let bleach water set out for 24 hours the bleach is suppsed to disipate into the atmoshphere ive also read that some H2O2 will help remove the bleach but than your still waiting 24 hours for the H202 to leave the water

I use tap . MIne is buffered at 7.5 smells of clorine .I let it set out for 24 hrs no problems , i also use the same water on my tomatoes and vegetables outside havent seen any problems .Its trash for hydro because of the buffer I cant lower the ph .I<M growing organic though so after it sits out the microherd takes care of the ph.

how about when you deal with hard water with a water softener. The culligan guy said that there supoosed to tell the customers that all the salt MAY kill plants.

and how about pond water?

Well its not like I can let the water bubble and sit out before my dad turns the hose on hah. She is growing in all natural garden soil, same thing the tomatoes are in. Ive never tested my Ph before. My girl has a stem thicker than a highlighter, and is a 2 foot by 2 foot bush. Guess the tap water isnt effecting to much.

My tap water tests out at 7.0. I have used it on my tomato plants since planting and they have produced some of the best tomatoes I have ever tasted.

As to marijuana, no idea. My grow site pulls water from an outdoor water source.

If tomatoes do well, Cannabis will too.

I've been using tap water for nearly thirty years on my girls. We can often smell Chlorine in the water.

My plants do fine. Plants use some Chlorine in photosynthesis.

As mentioned, if the water is open to the air, the Chlorine will mostly boil off in a day or so.

In my opinion, don't stress over it.

I use water from the hose & sprinklers.

I am in Los Angeles with horrible water and it doesn't make a difference in soil. :joint::peace:

Just like my Tomatoes :bigjoint:
