Hey guys right now i am using Roots Organic soil, I have decided to go from using Pro Blend soil formula for a feeder to a tea formula. My prpblems stand as is that i know Roots is a pretted supped up soil that runs a tad on the hot side. Therefore i do now know a good mixture for a tea! Has anyone out there decided to go the samre route as me and uses a highly supped up base soil? any help would be much obliged.

Here is my plan, im not sure if this will cut the mustard.

5 gal filter water ph. 6.0
2 cups Sea Bird Guano
2 cups Bat Guano
2 cups E/W Castings
15 m/l Maixicrop liquid seaweed
2 tb/s Black Strap molasses.

Any criticism is welcome!

I use amended soil with teas. For the first month after transplanting I wouldnt use guano because it will probably be a little too strong for them. I like to do a bacterial innoculation at x-plant considering our favorite plant is an annual and prefers bacterially dominated soil. This will help your organic processes get kicked off faster and so will your roots! Use everything you got there minus the guano and you have a great bac. dominant tea.

When flowering is in full effect I like to do a couple fungi dominate brews because fungi mineralize phosphorus for your plant and make it available for uptake. This will increase the density of buds. I would use the Guanos mid through late flower depending on how long before flowering transition you transplanted. U should know when they are hungry.

Recipe looks good. I would wait until the soil loses a bit of charge though.

Thanks raptor!

Could you tell me more about the fungi brews? And would you possibly mind showing me a flower brew? They ake off strong in 3 gallon pots, then around weeks 3-4 the soil starts to lose chargeso that gives me a solid 3 weeks or so to hit them with teas. Thanks again

If you think your soil mix may be hot, and your plants don't really need much in the way of N.P.K. Then I would suggest brewing up a really simple tea:

2 cups E/W Castings,15 m/l Maixicrop liquid seaweed,2 tb/s Black Strap molasses. Bubbled for 48 hours.

This will brew up all the goodies (bacteria mainly) you are looking to add, without worrying about over feeding your plants.

Good luck.

    • Fungi brews are great but you dont wanna over do it because cannabis likes bacterially dominated soil. With bacterial tea you can't over do it. They love it no matter what. Here is a recipe for my favorite fungal brew.

I use the method of cultivating fungi in a 50/50 mix of soil and compost. Add 2 tblspoons/cup of oat bran. Innoculate the mix with spores and put in 80 degree temp for 3-5 days to grow mycellium. Stuff the fungi compost in some pantyhose and brew for 18-24 hours. Try to avoid longer times because this can make your brew go bacterial. (not necessarily bad)

      Fulvic Acid 2 ml/gl
      Soft Rock Phosphate
      Liquid Kelp 4ml/gl
Molasses .5ml/gl (very little dont want bacteria)
      Humic Acid 1 ml/gl
      Liquid Fish Hydrolysate 4ml/gl

The soil i use is Roots Organics. Anyone have any experience with it?
I have not used it, but people I have talked with who do, say it is pretty "supplemented"

You might be able to get by in veg using the soil as is, but its also dependent on strain etc...

Sometimes more is less. But, some strains can take all you can give...

Learn as you roll.

My AACT is
1 cup worm compost
1/2 cup worm castings
1/4 cup Alaskan Forest
1/4 cup Alfalfa meal
1/2 TBSP of Organic molasses
1 1/2 gallons of RO water
Bubble 18-24 hours

Some people are adding Humic to the tea as well, I'm not sure if it's beneficial or not.

I hear mixed reviews about Roots soils, mostly good though. I used their coco mix 50/50 with happy frog for a few months and didn't like it.

RISING MOON you are right it is supped up so its got me thinking about switching to happy frog. WITCHDOCTOR thanks for the recipe! Hey how long did that happy from feed for you? Im going to be running Romulan and Violator kush. I veg till 2 feet then flower. Im looking to get a soil that has some nutes for the first 3 weeks with a mild tea. then for the soil to lose charge and for me to take over with teas entirely by like week 5 or 6. Id water everytime with like a 50/50 mix....sound right? im new to this tea thing

Well I can't give you advice on growing with JUST teas, but I amend my soil to the point where I can use base nutrients and just a couple additives. If you're growing indoors I'd recommend BioCanna Vega and Flores along with the teas and your mix.

WITCHDOCTOR I thank you. I believe i understand a bit better, i need to find a decent base layer soil that can be ammended by using teas, Ill look up that BioCanna in the meantime.

Definitely. I sent you a PM too, check your messages if you get a chance. If you decide to go with Bio Canna, check out the Veganics thread, it's a sticky in the Organics section. There's a sticky for a cheat sheet to the thread as well, so you don't have to read through all the chatter and hate to get to the facts.

Yessir that is what I mean. Im learning now that i should take a supplemented soild and mix it with something like promix or some other. Id look to whip up 40 gallons at once, any ideas on a good ratio?

If you are using something like Happy Frog or ProMix, you can use at least 50% as the base. And then you can use up to 20% Earth Worm Castings. And I would definitely use at least 10%ECW...the rest is really up to you. Some people use perlite to help with drainage, there's already some in the Happy Frog.

You are right, at least with most of them I believe. There are different bales of promix, I used the bx, I think that's what most people use. That's why it's your base though, you add the rest in yourself. I used to use 50/50 promix and Fox Farm Ocean Forest, that's a really good soil. But you'd to add a little perlite if you did that. You still want to amend your soil though with some extras. Kelp and alfalfa would be good additions.
