Quick question for all you grow wizzs out there, im trying to make a simple tea, is it possible to make a simple tea using veggies and fruits with out having compost? Like can I throw some egg shells and bannnan pills, in a po and boil them? Or something along thoae lines? Just something cheap and easy? I searches on google but all that came up was about compost, thanks ahead of time guys

Organic material can not be absorbed by roots UNTIL it is decomposed by microbes, so there is no way to make a nutrient tea without a compost process of some sort. Boiling is going to sterilize.

Ok thanks for the insight man, I dont know shit when it comes to this im just lookin for something along those lines

try organicare's pure grow and bloom. they are OMRI certified organic even. i use as the base to make my teas and they retail for only $15/5lb bag. it can go a long way

You're trying to make fertilizer-type tea I take it? You can use almost any decomposed organic compound in aerated water to make a tea. A lot of people use worm castings. I have done so in my outdoor gardens and love it.

Indoors, we don't use fertilizer teas. No specific reason, nor am I saying not to...but we prefer making compost tea. It provides beneficial bacteria and organisms to the soil, and does provide a small amount of nutrients from the Humisoil being soaked in water for over 24 hours. I've seen growers use ONLY compost tea for an entire flowering season and have awesome yields. I have to try this side by side in my own garden, but I will be soon!

Like growgreen said not only do the tea bases last a long time, they are easy on the pocketbook so just snag a bag of something that you like and do it to it.
