Tell Me What You Think of My Buy List

found an awesome guy who's selling out all of his equipment, getting out of the biz. Heres the list of things I'm picking up from him..

Lumatek 600w Ballasts x6
Dual Vented Hoods x6
Air King Oscillating Fans x4
Homebox 4x4 Grow Tent x1
MLC 8 Light Controller x1
General Hydro 4 Outlet Air Pumps x3
Nutra-Dip Trimeter x3
6" Mountain Air Charcoal Filter x1
8" Mountain Air Charcoal Filter x1
6" Can Fan x1
8" Can Fan x1
E-Z Clone 60 x1
8 Bulb 4' Hydro Farm Flouros x1
HydroGen Water Cooled CO2 Generator x1
4x4 Trays x4

I'm planning on eventually having a SOG drain and flood setup. I'm going to start in the 4x4 tent and when I have active mothers, I plan on getting the flowering room set up, if I can't make it in the basement due to water issues I'm going to get 2 4x8 foot tents, or maybe a 10x10. I know alot of the things are overkill, but I'm getting a pretty decent price.

Any further recommendations? I have to get the recycling timers, and the pumps, as well as the reservoirs still.

Yea it all works, I've actually already gone and scoped it all out before we started talking business. I plan on running a similar setup to Al B Fuct's 2 week harvest SOG. I like the flow of that tremendously

Nice you always get the best deals when you buy the whole lot. Id imagine your price is good. Buts if anything less than 40% off retail. I would reconsider because verything you bought does hegrade over time.

He actually wasn't on CL, I found him through ebay. I happened to look at the city and realized it was 4 miles from me !

I'm actually thinking of toning down the equipment. If and when I need the power of 8 lamps, I can always use a flip box and use 4 ballasts.

When I outgrow the 4 4x4 flood and drain tables, I will simply "clone" that entire setup, just divide a room off and only have to buy new hoods/bulbs !

Here's the breakdown.. I think his prices are a bit high, what should I offer him for the list

Lumatek 600w Ballasts 6-8 120 each for 6 (720) or 110 each for 8 (880)
Dual Vented Hoods 6-8 depending $100 each or 8 for $750
Air King Oscillating Fans 4 $90
Homebox 4x4 Grow Tent 1 $110
MLC 8 Light Controller 1 $150
General Hydro 4 Outlet Air Pumps 3 $135
Nutra-Dip Trimeter 3 $360
6" Mountain Air Charcoal Filter 1 $125
8" Mountain Air Charcoal Filter 1 $150
6" Can Fan 1 $100
8" Can Fan 1 $125
E-Z Clone 60 1 $175
8 Bulb 4' Hydro Farm Flouros 1 $175
HydroGen Water Cooled CO2 Generator 1 $300
4x4 Trays 4 $360

Total $3985

I don't have that kind of cash to spend. My budget is 2k

What should I ask for for 2k, basically

Is this your first grow?.

Is $2000 your budget to go from nothing to growing? or do you have other gear?

If I were you this is what I would buy: 6 Ballasts and hoods, even if you are only going to use four of them. They are a good price @ $120 and its a good idea to have a back up. I would also want the 4ft 8 bulb floro rack, co2 generator and 4 trays and the 6" and 8" Can fans.... and I would try for the light controller too :leaf:

What I would consider: 4x4 Homebox, Air King fans, air pumps

Forget the carbon filters, use a NEW can 75 or 100 for that many lights. Use a waterproof handheld all in one ph/ec/ppm meter by Hanna. Fuck the E-Z cloner, use Rockwool.

I'm starting from nothing.

he's got a brand new mountain air 12 inch carbon filter also, I'm thinking I might just do one 6 inch for my eventual mother/clone area, and then the 12 inch for the flowering room. I plan on keeping the trimeters in the reservoirs at all times, to keep a constant eye on things.

I might drop the number of lights and hoods down to 4 right now. I'm really leaning towards raptors when I get the larger room fully up and running, so I can use a flip box and keep the same ballasts. I might see if he will hold onto the extra stuff for me for awhile

if I were you I would build a cloner instead of buying that 175$ tup of plastic. you can build on for about 40 -50 bucks. Get a roughneck rubbermaid tub like a 18 gallon one, PVC piping (hacksaw to cut it), some PVC fittings, a pump that can push out atleast 300 gph some EZ clone sprayers (to thread them you need a 10-32 threader bit) , 60 or 70 1 5/8 neoprene disks (for the botanicare power cloner, 70 will fit on the lid if you measure carefully), a 1 5/8in hole saw, a drill and make that mofo. This is assuming you have a drill handy. do a little research and save yourself some money, you dont even need a air pump the sprayers aerate the water on their own.

I saw a dude the other day selling a similar setup on CL too. I can't say for sure but the prices seem little high you could price all this stuff out on ebay seperately and see where that leaves you.

All my stuff is pretty low budget stuff sto if the stuff is premium it migt be a goo deal but I just bought a 4x4 tent brand new for 110$ shipped. The 6'' fan is 100$ shipped, and I saw a used 600 for 175 shipped. We actually bought the 600 HPS from a local store. The used ballast was $75 and the 6'' air cooled xtra sun reflecter was 100$ new. The new bulb brought it up a bit but we couldn ave saved some $ on that online or something ( youll probably need a new bulb too). Shop around I wouldn't buy in bulk unless I was getting a much sweeter deal I think.

If $2000 is your budget, do this if you want to grow hydro:

You need to get a Growlab 5x5 tent, 1 4x4 tray, 1 40 gallon reservoir, a ph and a ppm meter, a reverse osmosis filter, good nutrients (House and Garden, Advanced Nutrients, Bloom, ect), 1 8" cool tube, 1 8" can HO fan, 1 1000w magnetic HPS/MH ballast, 1 Eye Hortilux Super HPS bulb , 1 Co2 tank and regulator. 1 550 gph water pump, 1 dual outlet air pump, 2 12" airstones, 1 6" carbon filter and fan. 2 digital timers (one for the light and one for the water pump).

That is $2000 spent the right way. Everything you need to start churning out 1lb+ every harvest. You will be much happier with a complete system working at it full potential than using one that you constantly have to improve. If you don't follow my advice, you are going to spend your money on gear your not ready to use and you won't be able to grow because your budget is blown.

Ouch, that's a lot of money you spent I hope you didn't blow your entire wad, you are still missing a few key components. What are you going to cool those 6 hoods with, one 6" fan will work for one, maybe two hoods. What are you going to do about a reservoir? What are you going to do about nutrients? What about odor control? Good luck with the tri meter, the ph probe usually goes out in 2 years.

actually I just checked the prices you list there against my local grow shop...(cheapest in the state) and you are getting ripped off ...seems like you are saving only like a hundred and fifty dollars for some equipment that can be seriously worn and torn you know?

He only used everything at most for 6 months. Everything basically works 100 percent, and he did guarantee it against something happening.

I didn't use up my whole budget, it should have been more, but I've had a spell of bad luck in other areas for the moment, so that's all I was committing to buy.

I still need to buy the pumps, nutes, and another 8 inch ventilation system. The 6 inch is for the hoods basically.

I have a mountain air carbon filter, I forgot to add that to my list, my apologies.

This was basically the equipment I needed to get me on my feet and growing.
