Temperature controller and AC units

So my temperature controller died. It was a sentinel controller. I ran a portable AC with it so it would turn on and off the AC.

well I just got a titans zephyr 1 and it won’t power on my AC. Anyone got any ideas on what is going on? I can’t image they’re really designed any different, so what gives.

I'm a little confused by that myself. Both are rated 120v with 15amps. Any possibility it's defective? Have you tried connecting it to something else and seeing if it powers another device?

When I plug a light into it, it functions as you would expect. The ac pulls 1200W at 10.5A so it should be okay.

The fact that it powers your light eliminates the defective part. That's strange.

Okay I figured it out.
My AC plug and the titan control receptacle didn’t like each other. That’s something to investigate later…

I had some timers finicky like that before turned out the amps peaked at compressor startup but just gave run data after startup. Sorry Im stoned at the moment if that makes sense.

And what guage extension cords and length in and to AC?

I’ve had my issues with controllers in the past. Mainly once the condenser kicks on it’s asking for more power than the controller wants to give and creates issues.
This controller ac infinity 76 won’t disappoint! And it’s rated high for portable a/c and heaters. It helped fix my problems.

That was my original concern. It’s odd because on the controller it says 12amp max. Then on the back of the controller it says 15amp max. Either way I’m below the 12amps.

I know the AC is 1200W at 10.5amp (120V) so if the controller is getting too much power at compressor start up then my AC is pulling more power than it’s designed for.

Luckily it looks like I’m okay for now. Im feeing like it’s just a bad connection. These pigtail extenders I’m using are 15amp and really bite into the metal pins so they’re awesome.

Thank god they’re sold out. I probably would of went that direction if I knew they had this. I thought all their controllers were solely for their own branded fans.

I am but I lucked out with Amazon. I contacted customer service because the controller was late and they told me to keep the item and reimbursed me.
