Temperature Problems

3x 600w lights in a 5x7 grow area is too much, take a light out and get some passive intakes at the bottom of your cab/room. and a good fan exausting at the top. heres a quick scetch. not really sure what your working with as far as a grow area, wether its a big closet, a cab or a tent. a portion of a room, so its difficult to go into any great detail.

if you can't control high temps in winter what makes you think you can grow any other time of year? idk how people are having high temp issues my temps are 50-60 and thats with 2 400w superlumens
600 watt puts off a lot more radiant temp that's why you don't know how people are having heat problems... 3x 600 puts out a lot more heat then 2x 400, and he's mine are lumatek super lumens too. When I set all three of mine to 400 the temperature is fine the heat for the lamps doesn't even reach the plants and it also depends on how it's setup and size of grow room...

i can grow I. The summer because the too. Is insulated and the air conditioner will still bring in 17degree air so the cold air will stay in and it will work the same as I'm the winter the problem is not cold air I take it's just air movement inside the room and I. Looking for a better system for possibly out take there is more then enough cold air coming in just not getting moved sound rnough

By the way total grow space is 4x11 ft plants take up about 4x5 ftthere is an air conditioner I the grow room along with two hot air out takes and three fans but I think the two house fans might. Not be powerful enough

For anyone else with the same problem. I threw another high powered oscillating fan in and turned the two lights to super lumen 600 instead of Just 600 and turned the third lamp off now temps are perfect and looks like it will still be ore then enough light.

When I transferred plants a couple of them got brown spots on leaves is that just because they were under fluorescent before? Because temp is perfect.

2x600W is imo ideal coverage for 35 square feet. But it's a bit awkward placing two lights in there for good even coverage. Now, two 600s on parallel light rails ... that would be the stuff!!! cn

They cover great because it's only 4 ft wide. I bent open the hoods a bit and it's pretty even light everywhere. Do you think half a gallon of water is good everything 3-4 days per plant?

I have a temp problem in my room also. I'm using the corner of my room where the closet is at. Using only one 1000 watt hps I got a fan hangin next to the light but my temps eventually get to 90 . Over powering my ceilin fan plus 2 other fans on the ground pointing at my plants... Do yall think one 6" or 8" inline fan will take car of the heat problem or a air cooled vent which do you think will be the best

Hey there,

I have 3x 600 watt lights in a row lined up all hanging the same height.

They are about 35 degrees celcius where the plants are and I have no way of making it cooler.

Will 35 be too hot?

I can turn the ballast down to 3oo watts per lights which would probably drastically reduce temperature

Better to leave 600 watt at 35 or go to 300 at 25 degrees?

Total is 18oo watt for about a 4x6 space and about 5-7 plants. Thanks!
are u running an ac unit? if u are try running a flex duct pointing straight at the lights. thats what i did on my 1000w hps and it stays cool 6" from the light

for a 4x6, you only need 2 600W.

35 is wayy too high. you will be able to grow buds. but problems magnify when heat is high. (or find perfect strain)

i would try 2x600W first, and see the temps. the 600W will give you much more light penetration and better buds then a 300w.
if its still 35F. try 600W and a 450W.
if still too high, go down to 300W.

IMO, 3 bulbs, of any wattage over 300W is too much for the space you have, espically w/o cooling techniques.
My experience comes from playing around with 3 600w dimmable MH/hps myself. I usually do whatever it takes to keep temps down. You can still grow fantastic buds with 300W per light.

also, sounds like no need to run 600W in your situation. two 450's (75%power) would cover that area pretty well also.

If you have a nice cool place to vent exhaust heat too. might be ok w/o aircooled.

else, aircool is worth the money(brought my temps down around 10F+ consistently). 6in fan is plenty, i have an 8'' and its overkill.

I'm going to try the 6" inline fan since I can get it for $30 on eBay and if that doesnt work I'm going to then get the air-cooled vent. I can always open the room door and let that heat blow down my hallway

Can I build a clear plexiglass heat shield or will it block light out or refract the light at all? Also do you think the lights would melt plexiglas at like 6 inches away for m the bulbs? 600watt lumatem digitals hps bulb thanks :)

I was thinking a plexiglass box attached to my reflectors then two circular holes one each end with a cold air intake and hot air exhaust hooked up to opposite ends
