tent environment

I think your controller seems right. I don't like to drop temps more than 10 degrees but I think a lot of guys do with no problems. Use the thermostat controller for the exhaust fan.

Should I set the exhaust therm. to the same temp. as my ac? So they both turn on at 86 degrees?

Yea, but you might find that they are reading different. Especially if they are in different art of the room. Try and get at least one; if not both; of them around your plant canopy. That is the reading that you need to go off. Temps may actually be cooler above your lights or around then tent but may be a lot warmer on your canopy.

Part way done, I installed the new AC, and straightened all the duct work as much as possible.
The new AC is rocking it. Knocks down temp. in like 5 min. But my humidity is even higher now. So my question is, should my next move be the exhaust fan/filter or a new humidifier? It appears to me, I need a stronger, better humidifier before I go and install a exhaust and unseal my tent . But I have the exhaust on hand.

Better dehumidifier. Exhaust fans don't automatically decrease humidity. Especially if your room is sealed. A good 30 pint dehumidifier (Danby or Sunpentown) will run you $100.

Your AC Wasnt In the Tent??? All two hose portable a/c's suck in a little air still from in your room, one hose portable a/cs will suck all thier intake air from in your room.

CGE is not possible with one hose, two hose port a/c's dont eat all your co2 that bad, its managable...


As far as you had it set up before with a ducted cold air into tent from a/c outside tent, it would impossible for a a/c to dehumdify your grow room with its intake not even in the grow room.

You are better off using the a/c inside the room even though it probally takes up 1/4 the space.

Yeah its an issue, so is odor. I can fit the smaller AC inside the tent, but by sucking in tent air its also sucking in odor, which is being sent outside unfiltered, I can't have that. Having it ducted into the tent avoids this, and it still does a good job of dropping humidity, and works great for cooling. I think adding the exhaust tonight will aid the dehumidification,while not ideal, will keep it sealed 90% of the time, if it doesn't, I'll upgrade my dehumidifier, or just give up on keeping it sealed. Here's what it will look like. And a update pic, i'm glad the plants are doin fine.

your diagram explains alot for me why you are having problems. Alot of these systems are fighting each other or not installed correctly. (fans for one, also carbon filters will suck air out of rooms)

If your going for Closed/Controlled Grow Enviroments then maybe this will help.

So this setup won't work without a dual hose AC? I don't think i've ever seen one.what if I put my AC in the tent with a carbon filter on the hot air exhaust. Mabye add a booster to the exhaust line to help out?

With a Single Hose A/C.. you would be removing your Heavy C02 Right off the bottom of the floor, making adding Co2 Still possible but a little more tricky..

IMO its still better than how you had it. single hose or dual hose.. BTW the link for a 14kBTU DUAL HOSE A/C that just kicks ass for $350.00 NEW.

OR and EVEN Better.

you have THREE lights inline using only little 6" fans... you could pull alot more heat off those bulbs with a Bigger Fan closest to the exhaust like a 12" ~800-1000CFM

This would reduce alot of load on the A/C and the different/inefficient way of ducting in would become somewhat more feasible.


or...

You could abandon CGE and just go for a CLEAN INTAKE/EXHAUST SYSTEM without the need for much supplemental CO2. (I could draw this up easy if you want)

Either way man your plants look great and I can tell you have a green thumb, you'll get this down!

Thanks for the link, I'll look into it. Have to make sure it would fit, and see how much shipping is gonna be. I'm curious to see your idea for the intake/exhaust system, if I decide to go that route I want to make sure I do it right.
As for the fans, I took out the intake side fan, and it made no difference in temp. The hoods are all still cool to touch.
