I think the gun lobby is trying to back door an expansion in police powers. They want the police to have the power to evaluate a person's mental fitness and deny gun ownership, perhaps other rights such as the ability to drive or maybe post letters to the editor. Fascists love their authoritarian police. If they are white and controlled by white supremacists, that is.
We need a police state to protect our gun freedoms

We need gun freedoms to protect from the police state

So far at this time (and it is changing as I type) this poll is around 55% in favor of more gun control and 45% want gun laws to stay the same.
What the fuck?
How can anyone think that the way things are now is acceptable, like almost half on this site..
I know this site is full of stoners, but I never knew there were so many idiots here also.
Fuck Trump, the GOP, the NRA and anyone else that want's to maintain the present laws.
Domestic Terrorists, every single one of them.

I had so much money to feed my family, trump and company decided to give a whole bunch of it to billionaires. Why? Because they apparently know how to use it responsibly much more so than I. Why don't we do that with firearms? Donate them all to the Army. Dump them in the ocean and give them all to the fish. I've never heard of one single shooting ever involving fish, not a suicide or even an accidental shooting. Fish are much more responsible with guns than republicans

Not to the gun industry.
Watch gun sales go through the roof now, as always happens when there is an inkling of gun control.
Biden came up with an intelligent approach.
1st ban assault type weapons and large capacity magazines forever, not this 10 year bull shit.
2nd point was to institute a buy back program so the freaks that own them won't totally lose their minds.
Whatever it takes, get those weapons off the streets, spend the money if needed but do something.

Hope your children are never the victim of fire from a good guy with a gun aka vigilante
Speaking of that. Hope your loved ones aren't the victim of "governmenticide" .

Governmenticide could be a cop (thug) operating solo or in a gang against an unarmed victim (a dog? a child? a black guy selling cigarettes ? ) or it could be as expansive as a nuclear bomb.

Governmenticide is frequently presaged by gun control and consolidation of weapons in the hands of the "ruling class" .

Are you suggesting that Biden's security team will be unarmed or is disarming only for the serf class?

wait a minute- isn't texas legal to carry? why didn't those in Walmart who were carrying, protect the others who got shot?
Isn't it illegal to murder people?

Why didn't the law stating it was illegal to murder people, protect the people who got murdered?

Not to worry.

It's only two people using alt accounts via VPN voting for no new gun laws.

The root solution to Veteran psychological issues might be for them not to be taught to kill people that have never harmed them.

Your erm "solution" makes me think you're not a real Doctor.

rights always come with responsibilities...if you have a right to own a firearm, you have the responsibility to keep it secured, and out of the hands of children and thieves. you are responsible for anyone injured with your weapon, whether it was in your hands or not.
and quit bitching about background checks. it's not an invasion of your privacy, it's a way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and insane people....the nsa already has all the information the can ever go through...they don't need these forms to keep tabs on you if they want to....
there is just NO reasonable argument against very strict background checks

It made sense to me when I was talking to my patient yesterday. He is a Vietnam vet with cancer from agent orange exposure. He told me that the care provided to him at the local VA hospitals was terrible and he would much prefer coverage at the local hospital and to be able to select the doctors he likes but it would cost him a lot of money because it’s not covered under his health insurance. Sure I totally agree with you about sending folks off to kill others a terrible idea, but what do we do for all the injured and dying Vets here now is subpar.

The problem can be broken into two parts.

The first is how to deal with the poor dupes who fell for the "hero" bullshit and are already injured.

The second is how do we prevent creating more injured veterans.

The solution to both parts involves replacing indoctrination with critical thinking.

Sorry for thinking you weren't a real Doctor. Sometimes my cynicism gets the best of me.
