At this point we would need Sunni to come in and talk to us about it. Potroast told me last round we need permission from the site owner for sponsors and prizes. We already had a number of things in place when I took over so my thinking was not mention sponsors or prizes and take care of that thru pm's to try and be compliant. Obviously I was wrong when Sunni contacted me last weekend.

The main question that comes up is some of these sponsors pay for advertising so why can't we have them participate in this? Last round I wasn't trying to be sneaky with what I was dealing with, I was trying to be discreet and do things quietly. My apologies to everyone including RIU for what I tried to do, it was never my intention to hurt this site or competion.

We have a number of questions but it seems we're at square one. I would like to see Sunni come in here and talk to us to try and reach a solution without banning this comp. I know a lot of members don't care about prizes, we're just out to have fun with this. This is a great event for this community, can't we at least try and find a solution for this?

this is just stupid because riu refused advertiser money from some of the sponsors..., The mods won't allow prizes. Don't speak on what you don't know.

wanna beat froggy and pimp mutt again, keep the tradition alive...........tying an arm behind my back this round as a handicap for my "animated" friends, YES i will water the party cup bitch one handed:mrgreen:

I am too far to get any prize anyway...it was for the challenge...first challenge find a party cup...tomorrow I will go to US shop I hope I will find some of this red cup...! Lots of 500ml...
Next cup...McDonald cup!
Maybe some of the 500ml they sell are 473ml in fact!
The only one I found was square one and blue...no red anymore (same brand I guess)

I may try a double shot cup along with you just for fun. My run should be finished by the time the germ window ends. I'd still like to have comp even if we can't have prizes.

i just surfed some previous cup threads and I have to applaud how much work went into getting sponsorship in the past. That's pretty epic imo

I checked on mini bud today. Still not strong enough to break through the jiffy, but I can't make myself kill the cutie.

These are really fun competitions. It never ceases to amaze me how much work and passion goes goes into making your best effort in a 16 oz party cup. Bravo to those who choose to do so and share it for all to see. As to the prizes I would venture that for those who take a first place prize it should be something that they can look back on and be reminded of what they accomplished in a hotly contested competition filled with deeply skilled growers. I know IG has sponsored lights for most of the comps that have been held but it really has always been done as a show of respect to the growers and what might be a prize worthy of their efforts. When there were very few sponsors IG offered a first and second place prize in one of the comps. But the comp has grown and now more sponsors are available. Short of prohibiting the competition entirely perhaps it's time that only those who are advertising be allowed to sponsor prizes. This would allow the mod and everyone else to talk about the prizes freely without fear of reprisal. While I understand if that is the decision I'd be saddened to see that restriction as I think the comp really should serve to attract a wide variety of mfg's to RIU, not just advertisers, as a way of rewarding the work of those who would manage to place in the top 3 in any of these comps.

We'll have to settle this right now...

@sunni We want our competition to continue. We would also like as a community to see the top contestants get rewarded. Can we come up with some sort of compromise, so we can keep this going? We're in the 5th year, this has become a tradition on RIU. Personally I feel like it could bring more advertisers, and more traffic here.

I really want to join my first competition :-) I honestly don't care about prizes or rewards, it's just about the fun of competing with a bunch of growers of various skills. I've always been a hobbyist grower since the legalization here in Colorado, but I never had much of a reason or space to grow big. This competition is a great opportunity to just do it for fun with more people than those that live in my four walls. Hopefully this can continue so we can have some fun.
