I don't think children actually can grasp reality since its sheltered by the parents. Shit we all love to not be able to distinguish reality, one of the many reasons I Love tripping =D.

It is all the fundamental parts of growing up.. "not knowing" or being figuratively dark as in the womb is a natural, fundamental state towards cognitive advancement. But what is your interpretation of cognitive advancement?

Its more like getting a wide grasp over a spectrum of different topics... generalizing is the best way to increase awareness. Child exhibit more behavior through expressing frustration to receive what they want, instead of forming a more pronounced or justified means in receiving it. Its the stage of development!
