That's a good idea. Thanks dude. I just did express sea freight to save $200 on ups 8 day air freight. My order is scheduled for delivery on Friday. That'll be about 40 days from the date I placed the order. I normally want my stuff right away, but I was still finishing up my flower cycle and knew with harvest time and flipping the room it would be at least a month before I had the space ready to install the new lights. I'm happy as a clam being done HID's for good. Hoping to save $250/month on electric. Hit $720 at peak flower on my last cycle with 3200w of HID on overdrive +1320w of LED. Brutal.

I opted to stay away from both king brite and meijiu because of all the exposed wiring on their lights. It just seems horribly short sighted and poorly thought out. The first time I saw both vendor's lights I couldn't believe they didn't have wire guards. Very strange manufacturing decision on their part.

I agree. When I got the lm031b version from kingbrite I wasn't aware the wires were exposed. Good thing was I only bought the one. The newer versions do not have the exposed wires so i ended up buying 8 of the 240 watt v3 version.

hey guys i have a 6.5' x 6.5' grow tent i need filled with quantum boards for a flowering tent. Since my tent is square shaped, 42.25 square feet, and I'm aiming for 45 watts per square foot I figure I could get four 480watt boards to get exactly 45 watts per sq. ft. Does this sound like a good idea? Or am I better off getting more smaller sized boards?

how does one negotiate on pricing with KingBrite and/or Meiju? CONTACT SUPPLIER on the alibaba page?

In need of 4k watts worth of LED lighting and need to pull the trigger ASAP!

Their prices are pretty rock bottom considering the competition. I can't imagine trying to beat them up on unit price unless you're ordering 10 lights at a time. Even then you might see a $20-$40 decrease per unit - if you're lucky. However it's always worth a shot and if you don't ask you'll never know.

If you were going to try to negotiate I'd find another board that's a better price and tell them you're considering going with a competitor. Give 'em the link. Make sure it's a lot cheaper, but not too much otherwise you're not comparing apples to apples. But find something that's $50-$100 cheaper per unit. Tell 'em you really like their lights, but you're strongly considering buying their competitor's lights due to the price difference. Give it a whirl. Let us know how it goes soldier.

I ordered about 2k watts from kingbrite and asked if they gave discounts. They gave me 1% off. Their prices are already low so I don't see them giving a discount much higher than that.

thanks for the insight! I am planning to order eight 480 watt fixtures actually. Hope that's enough to qualify for some type of discount.

As far as asking them to match/lower pricing based on another board I think I will just show them the Meiju version of the kingbrite board im looking at?

I think i just want the quantum boards with the samsung diodes and the red 660nm lights, I don't think I want to shell out on the UV+IR diodes.

Looks like meiju has that option for $236.72 vs Kingbrite's Version for $273.49

If they don't match Meiju's price should I just buy from Meiju? Or is there something about Meiju I should be considering that reflects the lower price?

i read that those two diodes are EXACTLY the same though. and that the only difference is the H just stands for HORTICULTURAL as samsung intended to market it to the horticultural demographic by changing the name to LM301H

That is the only difference I saw between the two. I thought there was a slight difference but upon further research that seems to be the case. The one difference I noticed with the 240 boards from kingbrite was that LM301H boards had a thicker heat sink than the LM301B boards. I dont know if that applies to the 480's or matters to you. Just an observation I thought I'd point out.

I've been using a meiju 480w qb fixture in my pheno tent for a couple of years now and it's been perfect.
I'm quite happy with the quality and performance.

The only difference I can discern from reading all the samsung spec sheets is how they measure performance of the diodes (PPFD vs lumens) and how they BIN the diodes. If I remember right, there are far fewer available BINs in the H line than the B line. This might suggest they have been selected the the best for the specific application (hort.)

Functionally, they are the same, but how they select them in the factory and package them to sell is different, so in the end, there may be a difference in what you get even though if you had a full range of B and H diodes to compare, you could find identical matches for any "H" within the "B" collection.

BTW, looks like the Kingbrite Store on alibaba is out of "trademark jail", and they have released a new line of strip style fixtures they call "Copacabana Sun" Very nice stuff.

I like the way you are thinking about it. Watts per sq ft. I'd dial down those things some though. Tent growing means headroom resptrictions, and you can push them softer but get the same results by keeping them closer to the plants.

Oh yeah, those 4xQB HGS style lights packed in there are gonna block a lot of airflow around the 5mm thick "heat sink".

Maybe consider going with some of the new "strip" style.
If you bought last year, I can see just doing QBs, but a year or 2 from now, nobody's gonna be buying QB288s. The strips just have too many advantages.
It's gonna be a strip world (and all I have is QB288s ;-) )

Yeah, I agree that running that much light in your grow can be challenging.
Based on the tent size, you may want to look at dividing it into 4-3x3 blocks, so using a 320-watt qb-style fixture over each block would give you great results.
