The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Sounds alright. Go for 3500k rather than 3000k, or even 4000k if thats an option. 120 should be enough, but you need to be able to go down even further, ger an external dimmer, B-type

Even though both of those links mention LM301B (or LM301H) in the product title, it is somewhat confusing because both of the linked strips use LM561C diodes.

Are the LM561C strips the ones you want to buy?

If

For that space your already way over powered, its basicly a 2x2, right? You also need more height to do decent growing, you lose alot of height in hanging height and pot height and filter, like almost a meter.
But youre right, better spread the boards out, and even better spread the watts outnover more boards. I dont do 120w qbs, period. 60-80w is good for me, enough to work with alu backing instead of heatsink.
how much do you find aluminium backing for?where?i see high prices when i look for aluminium sheet for making lights

I got a place locally. For 10€ i get a sheet cut to size, 12x40" 3mm thick, plenty of dissipation for 240w. Look for places that do alu for construction. Or scrapp yards. Its fairly possible you wont find them online but in yellow pages. First few places in google searches tend to be expensive. Dont think theres anything good in amazon. If your already down to 60w per board then you dont need much. Some people use baking sheets, like for ovens.
I recommend going for this diy approach, its much more satisfying than just hanging a light.

I get it, it's clearer now, so even though samsumg diodes still have the possibility of not being of good quality?

This product is from an ad on aliexpress, i haven't even seen a comment on. But for having an affordable price and being samsung diodes I thought in turn would be useful.

This a profile a seller

this the board

Thanks for the clarification, and I'm sorry to bother you.
I buy From Meijiu and got top bin like I paid for.

this is a great thread but everyone should not use the "quantum" board name..

sure they did not invent the samsung diode led panel

but they did make up the name "Quantum Board"..

just because China uses it on their knock offs...we shouldn't

sure ..these China made Boards rock..and yes HLG started first making them there..

but only they should get to use the name
Calling an item by a well known brand name is common practice. If I ask you for a Skilsaw, you know what I mean. Crescent Wrench? Jet Ski? Jacuzzi? Chapstick? Q tips? I could go on and on but I believe that I made my point. I see what you are saying about ripping of HLG but really it is paying homage to the innovator. The term isn't the issue, it's the practice of stealing someone elses design that sucks. Really though once they make one change to the design it becomes a new design and belongs to them.

Having read almost 160 pages of this thread, I took the plunge and bought from Kingbrite, one of their new 2020 models. Pre-assembled IP67 waterproof board Kingbrite 240w LM301H 3000k mix 3500k CREE XP-E2 660NM with UV IR switch led grow light.
Bought it for my 4x4, I know I will need at least 480w, will likely add a second one after I receive the Light and test it.

Went for the combination of 3000k and 3500k, I couldnt decide on 1 or the other so opted for the combination.

Q. the UV and IR options are swithable I need to work out the best way to use this, any advise will be appreciated.?

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread, althought its a long thread there is a lot of great information here, though it does get confusing.!

For anyone thinking about buying. Mine arrived today.

Quality is great. One wire which plugs together. And thats it. Ready to go. !

The potentiometer is already connected and easy to use. The 2 switches control the UV and the IR.

They are very bright, will put them up tomorrow, my plants were switched to flower schedule (12hours) per day a few days ago.

Some photos attached for your reference.

I have a par meter. How would you know there not.
Im not saying theyre not top bin, im saying that nobody have actually established how the china boards measure out against hlg qbs for like a year and im keen on finding out. Has anybody got boards and gear to test this?

Its also worth mentioning what is top bin: its actually a combination of 2 bins: highest flux bin with lowest voltage bin. I think that many times with the bubbers youll actually get top flux bin, or same output as a hlg, but not lowest voltage bin which means a little bit more power usage, like 3-5 % for the same output.

Yes they are bud. Well, they're on the list anyway. Was reading lately and the ratio of efficiency to price makes them a pretty similar outlay to the lm301b it seems. Maybe even a better deal when you factor in price.

What do you think of those anyway?

Hi guys any suggestions for 4x4 tent
Looking for something killa and uniform spred

put my eye on kings bright or meijiu but not sure on wich boards or strips to go for
As rocket said, I did 6 boards for my 4x4. I also agree with rocket in saying you won’t need more than 480w. I had issues with one plant when I got into the 550w range. Kept it at 500w after that.

Has anyone tried out this bar set up from KB? Thinking about getting 10 of them, but would want to figure out a way to control them with a controller. It has been a while since I have been on here. My last rooms have been all QB custom builds, but been away from it all for a bit and thinking of trying some of the china setups for my new room.

Any info would be greatly appreciated
