I still prefer to believe that we found out soon enough. That the Reichstag moment failed and is now sucking many principals (very slowly) under is what is different from the big example from almost 90 years ago.
Had the time really been right for a dictator, the election would have gone differently, and not just in Traitriots’ fever dreams. Shrug

If it wasn't for covid you would probably still have Trump and 1/6 is a Godsend to the democrats and could cost the republicans the midterms along with improving conditions, an economy and fading covid. Unemployment is at historic lows and it is 10 months and change until the midterms, that's a lot of history, measured in indictments these days.

History doesn't often repeat, but it does echo, the serious people who are working against these forces aren't making the news and don't want to. The future is yet to be determined and one way to determine it is to run for some local minor post at the municipal or county level. These people determine who votes, where, when and who counts them in many places, republicans are targeting these local positions. All politics is local, talk about roads and bridges and other local issues. Very few people show up at these elections and they can have a big impact both locally and nationally too.
