The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

I haven't been fishing in 2 weeks and I think I'm going loco.
Covid really kicked our asses and I just can't seem to fully recover yet. This weekend is out of the question, although I'm tempted to hit some local waters for the sake of my sanity. Musky season closes on Dec 15 and it's looking like I'll only be able to get out once more next weekend IF I'm back to 100%. Fomo big time.

Nice! Bet she was a screamer! Nothing like a nice 20+ cranking the downriggers or dipsies. Your wife looks super proud and she should be! Keep up the good work. Is that your boat? Nice steel hull. Cost a couple nickles aye??
You'll have to take me out if I'm ever over there or I'll be pissed!! :eyesmoke:

Life can fuck you up and remove you from your everyday fishing life just like that and for ALLOT longer than 2weeks. Still sucks dont get me wrong. If i wasn’t able to go down to the river during salmon season for 2 weeks i would have been bumbed for sure.
This was the year i could finally get back to that and they closed down the salmon season before it started.

this next summer i’m gonna be a trollin mother fucker on our lakes. I’ll put money on salmon will be closed again. i still got the USS Trollitup. Sold the sled :-(

Is that the pontoon boat?

Yup. It’s got allot of burns all over the upholstery but it is sea worthy. I’ve banged out shit ton of trout, kokanee and land locked kings in that thing. Quite a few browns too. I actually prefer to troll in it. In the summer that is.

As long as you don’t have to go too far from where you launch. From Lime Saddle going over to the dam area it sucked and so i’d usually take the DR’s off the pontoon and slap em on the sled. Don’t get me wrong, the CustomWeld made a great lake boat too but so much more room to party on the pontoon. Big stereo system. Was bad ass. If you’re only going 1.6-2.1 mph gps, you don’t need a fast boat :-D. I completely rebuilt the thing for trolling. Alls its missing is a disco ball.

Doesn't it suck in the wind though?

Kinda always does doesn’t it? But yeah with allot of wind and that much boat out of the water you def gotta work harder.
The sled had a kicker autopilot i installed. You could tell it where you wanted to go and if you wanted to do zigzags or whatever. Was slick and was allot easier in that department when you are the captain taking care of 4-6 rods especially with wind.

I just had my kicker attached to the main with a rod, nothing that advanced. The wind would catch my cover and push it around, it had side curtains though.

I had that same setup on the 23’ trophy i had.
Shit come to think of it. I had the same setup on the Lund 1800 Fisherman i had too.
I’m telling you though the autopilots out now are the shit! Worthless on the rivers but easy to disable it and use the tiller on the kicker.

Mine was a 19' Spectrum with disco stripes like this one.

Nice. I still miss my Lund. Was a deep V though. Could totally take it out in the bay and bang out halibut and striper and shark. Loved that boat! But that boat was best known for all the sturgeon i caught in it. The trophy too.
I basically traded in the trophy and the lund for the sled and the pontoon when i moved up to Ptown.

I miss my boat. Had a 16ft fiberglass, with a 90 evinrude. Started leaking somewhere in the bottom rotted the runners out and that was it. Didn't have the time to strip it and re do the runners so i sold it to some guy for the motor. Makes me sad. Every time Im in the market again some dumb shit happens and I can't afford it again (like having to spend 3 grand on the truck to fix it) grrr
One day (soon) I hope.

My buddy's boat he built, 29' welded aluminum drop nose landing craft w/ two 120 Suzuki's.

I like her thinking!! She attempted to eat that salmon right then and there before you chucked it back!
It got chucked right into the cooler with the rest. :D

Same type of thing with worms when more dumb-asses toss their worms into woods, and usually the tub too, where there are no natural worms. the f'ers breed like crazy and devour all the leaf litter and thin soil that is part of the forest ecosystem. Can wipe out a lot of forest over a period of years.
:peace:
I had no idea this was a problem
