The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

Planning on heading to Bermuda in Feb. or early May and hopefully will do some flats fishing and surf but only taking light spinning stuff. Any thoughts on what’s best for bones and hogfish (hear their tasty). I’ve fished there before but only for a hour or so, caught some little stuff but hoping to catch a few meals this time lol. I’m retired now so I’ll be going quite often and may even buy a small boat there.
If you're not fly fishing for bones I'd try live shrimp, or a light jig tipped w/ fresh shrimp tail. As for Hogs they like pretty much the same including sand flea's & very small crabs. BTW they are a bitch to get to bite, that's why people spear them.

Not from there not have I fished it but don't they fly fish for bonefish there?
Yes they do fly fish but also spinning. I’m ok with fly fishing but way better with regular stuff lol. I’ve got a crapload of lures and jigs but nothing geared for saltwater. Just ordered some gulp crabs, shrimp, and sand fleas, hope that covers it! I’ll post pics of trip when I get back.

I’m limited for stuff to take but will take fly gear next time and leave everything I take there. Daughter lives there so I plan on spending lots of time there …. Hopefully lol.

On my bucket list for sure.
One day
I’ve filled the bucket with some amazing trips. Mostly last minute cancelations that were hugely discounted. Alaska, Vancouver Island, Labrador, Ungava bay, and Guatemala (sailfish). But not a lot of inshore salt water stuff. I’m drilling through 18” of ice right now to wet a line. Looking forward to trying this spot :). 654DB66C-47A5-4114-923A-C1A3C4915A43.jpeg
