I'd love to get over there and collect some original landraces, some day I guess....
You may be too late, the Strain Hunters where there and brought feminized seeds to the locals while collecting the landrace.
Let's not get further on the subject.
The end of the Malana valley, summer pastures 3 days walk from the closest road, somewhere around 11,000 feet.
The last patch of forest on the left, from the river to about half way in the forest was our private wild garden for 8 seasons.

I totally understand about the hunters and that's what worried me about their expeditions. Anyways it would still be great to visit.

I'm glad you put this in perspective for me before I got there and realized what was real and would have been very disappointed.

Do you camp along the 3 day journey or are there villages where you can lodge?

What are the temperatures up there?

The Malana valley has only 1 village, Malana, descendants of Alexander the Great army, last democracy on earth, they just voted for the first time. There is nothing but Himalayan wilderness, you need to bring all necessities. It is as rough as it gets or as been for me. I have never pushed myself as I did there, you stop you die and I mean that literally! Young and so totally clueless and fearless.
This is the reason why my "extra mile" to get the best is bigger than most.

You get some very commercial ones now Frenchy. Rock hard, you can see plant matter in it, sometimes long thick black hair too yum. The way it breaks is strange too, and there is little flavor. We were taught even before going to avoid ones made by kids. The time you were there is the time we all hear the stories about, I only HEARD about it 12 years ago. I guess times change. But I also bet you never found a chocolate wrapper on the mountain when you were there either...

THERE TOO?!?!?! South African land races are RUINED. I am so upset. I just spent a very long time hunting a pure Swazi, something I could find every day 10 years ago. I still have to grow the seed to see if it is PURE. A friend traveled to an isolated valley where they still have the right shape and pepper flavor.

It is so sad. I won't mention who did it here, but there is a reason I don't buy Dutch seed any longer.

I must say this, when I discovered Charas, the only other hashish I knew was lower grade Afghani and Moroccan. So the Charas was off this planet. Since then, I have had some excellent blonde Moroccan, high grade Afghani (WOW) and not to mention terpene-loaded bubble hash. I wonder if my memory of it is not a bit inflated in my head. At the time, it was the best I ever had so I made certain I had a supply for a few years (gods bless Israelis lol) but since the last time I had, I have tasted some spectacular bubble and also some INSANE high grade Afghani and Moroccan. I have to wonder if the experience of charas will still be the same after all of that...

The bubble hash people are making these days is so fantastic, tastes like MORE every time.

I guess the 7 fingered dude had to show the 10 fingered guy how to do it right, with just one hand it looks like too.....Peace

The more grooves you have on your hand, the more you collect. Smooth baby hands

Not exactly but the fact that my Bro with the 7 fingered hands has a lot of scar tissues and plenty deep grooves which are key collecting points gave him an serious advantage despite the handicap. I also never made "big hand" to keep an optimum cleanliness, 3 to 5 grammes at a time.

Wow trully! Impressive Frenchy! That last picture of the manala cream almost passes for bho.
The best hash ive ever smoked was from nepal. My friend only has enough for 3 or 4 joints and it cost him 60 quid cant remember from who. He rolled one and half of it made 3 experienced guys fall asleep for 3 hours, wake up and not want to smoke more for a wee while. It was outrageous.
You ever been to Nepal?

Yes I was, right at the end of the Hippy period.
Landrace genetic from the feet of the Himalayas make some of the best resin.
The finger of jungle from Tosh does not have a look to make you drool but I would give the best I have made in Cali for a piece. It is unique, tropical fruit cocktail with a spicy undertone and the buzz of a kick ass Sativa.

The only hallucinogenic cannabis I ever smoked was from Hawaii. I wonder what it would have been like to smoke hash made from late '70s to early '80s Hawaiian grown sativa?

I have had Blonde from the '70s that was my first hash so I am not sure if it was the best or just my first love memory. In the '80s I had a friend who travelled to Amsterdam once a month for work and brought me back some dark opiated hash along with tales of the "Coffee Shops" where they would open a briefcase with samples of their wares. I would use a razor blade and slice off a paper thin slice and smoke it. I made it last a long time! Wrote some good music during that year :)
