The Great Flushing Debate

I flush with Triple Distilled De-Ionized H20. I use 5 gallon pots and flush with at least 3 gallons of water per pot. I usually give my gurls the last week of life in complete darkness and dont water or feed. I flush on the second to last week of plants life. Hope this helps. Good Luck. Bongs Away!

I have a aeroponics setup and grow 40 plants a time, all in custom boxes, but I do use clearex with some meaning behind it. I flush with clearex for 1- two days, watching the PPM's level out (around 50ppm)and once they level(1-2days) out I run straight RO water for about a week untill the PPM of my reservoir doesnt change much from 15-30PPM. I have smoked my budds early without this flush and it seems to have the same potentcy just not as smooth or long lasting high(harsh). My aeroponics is much larger than the aerogarden, but aeroponics is faster at flushing. I would base your flushing date on the trichromes..... as soon as all have turned hazy or clouded(or when you see the first signs of amber colored trichromes) then you spend a week flushing... RO water or tap... as long as you change your tap water often while flushing and keep the PH in optimum (5.8 )for me. then you shouldnt need RO.. all it does is keep the extra calcium, lime deposits off your roots and sprayer system.

I have flushed and not flushed before. Honestly I have not yet really decided if it makes a difference for me, but I only have a few grows under my belt.

Its an old thread but what the hell

I grow ebb and flow w/ 5in hydroton filled netcups. I use AN 3part with only superthrive for an additive. I also run purified drinking water from BJ's in 5gal jugs because my well water is 9ph and it CANNOT be adjusted to a reasonable number as it immediately rises back up. My average water consumption/evaporation is just about 5gal's per week with 40 5" netcups per table. I only change the water after every harvest, so weekly I add 5gal of clean water to 35gal's of left over water.

I have not flushed but I have noticed some issues with my bud compared to soil grown being flushed.. nearing the final month I start receding the nutrients from a peak of 1.2ec (840ppm) to .2ec (140ppm). I do this by only adding nutrients every other time I add fresh water and I also cut the amount added last time in half. This gradually brings them back down to my desired strength. By this point they should have about a week remaining and really starting to thicken up.

All traits differed between the exact same strain Green Poison *same mother 5 in soil w/ flush & 40 in hydro w/o flush* The green poison in hydro looked phenomenal, it grew faster, thicker, and more dense. Its dried appearance was again phenomenal but its smell & taste left me unsatisfied and the high was strong but short lived. Soil w/ flush clearly wins smell, taste and potency.
If i can ever get these stupid fucking clones to root the next hydro table will be flushed and I will report back on my results hydro vs hydro
