The greenining, or greenering or something like that

Just curious about my dark green fans. Any fan leaves getting direct light are
turning dark green, even as the larger fans are dying off they are not yellowing. I
quit feeding CaMg+ (1_0_0) as soon as I noticed the darkening but it didnt seem to effect the
greening. Any leaves buried in the canopy remain the lighter green associated with a
healthy plant. It may be of note that I'm red green colorblind so...

Grown from seed this is a feminized Nirvana Chemdog. This is the third one I've grown
but this is the first one to exhibit this trait?
I'm not really worried as I am nearing the end of flower (70 days since flip) and the buds are still
putting on weight and the plant seems healthy other than the dark, somewhat brittle leaves. Even the sugar leaves getting direct light have darkened up.

Just curious if anyone has seen this before.

Light= Timber 2vl No reflectors. 2 x Vero29 v7 COBs @100% and 15"
Seeds= Nirvana Chemdog feminized.
Soil. Fox Farms Ocean Forest, +25% coarse perlite and 1.5 tbsp Dolemite lime per gallon.
Nurtrients= Fox Farm trio, General Organics CaMg+.
Rh during flower, 50%
Lights on temp, 73f
Lights off low is 63f.

Thanks, G

PS, I used "insert image" any idea why it's being displayed as an attachment? Image size maybe?

Genetics can darken leafs. Cooler temps. I have a few ogs going now and one of them got too close to the light with 2 colas. A couple blades on those Fans got this brittle papery feel. Plants is still healthy and happy.

Your doing good with your grow, don't worry about a couple fans, there's a bunch more to pick up the slack.

8 days later and 30 to 40% amber trichs. It went amber fast. Final water and lights off in 2 days :)
Bro bro, trichomes will amber up on the surface of the bud. It doesn't mean the peak window is closed and all thc is degrading. Think about the ones you can't see. Those are the trichomes that aren't getting bombarded by UV. I bet they're still clear to slightly cloudy. Wait until ALL STAMEN have receded. Harvesting by surface trichome maturity is not accurate.

Odds are it was bro science that spread like wild fire to pacify all the new growers on a harvest window closer to the alleged time-frame given by the breeders and banks.
Plants ripen, when they ripen. Just like phenotypic expression in plants, it all varies, same is true with ripening times.

Your crop, your months of effort, your choice. As for me, and the other cats on here with yrs and yrs of hands on experience, we'll harvest when fully ripe.

No, I'm patient enough. I could wait. I haven't killed the light or anything. This is far from my first grow but it's the first plant I've grown that remained so green late in flower. It makes it harder for me to read. It's 87 days post flip right now. Other than being greener than usual does this not look ready?
BTW, I looked at trichs all over, not just on the main colas. Even the stuff down low is mostly cloudy with a fair amount of ambers.
McShnutz, not sure what you mean by stamen receding. Isnt that strictly on male plants? Guessing you meant stigmas.

Yeah my bad, stigma. Smh-:dunce:
Some plants stay green, others will fad right before harvest. Some it's just in the code to color up anytime, merely a bonus and has no effect on quality. Potency...maybe but that's up for individual interpretation. I've had pure purple shit blow my mind and other so so. Same as green...

Thanks for the reply McShnutz. This grow has been very non-typical and unlike the 2 previous Chemdogs I've grown. Fan leaves are dying off without ever yellowing and the buds didnt fatten up as much as expected (but they are really stacked up). It's just not what I'm used to.
Fingers crossed, hopefully it's an exceptional phenotype verses a sub par example ;) it's definitely different.

Sometimes the best smoke isn't a huge yielder. Genetics play a large role. Different is a good thing!

Update. Dried over 7 days. Trimmed and jarred at 60% rh. Better yield than expected at 184g trimmed bud with zero popcorn. I did some pretty aggressive defoliation before the flip and and then a less severe defoliatin 20 days into flower. I believe that explains the great bud stacking on multiple limbs. It smells great, very diesel like. Probably the best I've grown and I could still get a little bump from the cure. I'm super happy. So my bar is raised, still learning, now on to the next!
