The Main-Lining Thread

If I had a space that small I would grow 2 plant 1 veg and 1 flower, split the room in half one side use t5s for vegging and use a 400 hps or a 600 if you vent it properly, that way you could do a perpetual grow. You could give your flower space a little more room by making your veg side 2'x3' and your flower 3'x3'

Sorry if this was already covered, but is mainlining better than SCROG or LST? I don't know what I'm missing but aren't all these methods for more even sized top colas and level canopy? Thanks.

Mainlining is about getting root power evenly distributed to each cola with zero waste. Look at the spindly MuMo before flower and then look at the colas on that tiny plant. They are bigger and tighter than the colas on the LST Malawi monster last year.

Check out the 600 Club thread - I think 600s are a good choice or you can go 1000. LEDs are a good option if you can afford them.

Thanks Mo. Sorry for being lazy, but I've been reading for a week straight. So here's another lazy ? What do you mean by less waste? I get great results with SCROG, LST and super cropping. Pretty equal colas.

Welll I get that but what size light will be needed for my grow space

Thomas,

That depends on what kind of light you want to use. Google, MH/HPS, area covered by given light, ie., 600 watt hps, or 1000 watt hps. Or you can look at the LED's on the market. I am using a LED for a 6 to 7 sqft cabinet grow. Read my thread.

You get less popcorn (what Nugs calls larf) and no long skinny side branches. All of that wasted energy is now focused evenly on the 8, 16, 32... main colas. Giving you a plant that grows multiple big main colas on small short plants!

As for light size - LordJin grows OG ScrOG monsters in a tiny cabinet with a 1K. He also has an AC unit and a res chiller.

Cheers,
Mo

Okay so I wanted to try this on a branchy sativa...not recommended. Here's my last couple of ?s
1) How early do you top?
2) How long after topping do you take clones and tie down?
3) When do you prune first node?
Thanks in advance.

This is a little "old school" for you isn't it? :eyesmoke:

The MuMoBG is a cross between two African landrace sativa strains. Stretchy and lanky as shit. However, by using ML and light dep, the plant was kept small and manageable and the fruit ripened in the heat instead of the cold.

Let the plant grow out to about a foot and a half then top it. Let the new mains grow out about 5 inches and top them. Repeat until you have the number of mains you want. Remove any side branches and extra fan leaves when you are ready to flower.

I'm not a fan of long veg, but I might give this a shot. Might not be the best or right way, but I'm going to torture these ladies. Going to top as soon as I can get some 3-4 inch clones from bottom (all in same day). Week later I'll bend em and top again. Thinking 6 weeks veg at the most...hopefully less.

Hey I got a question tor some of you more advanced growers . Is there a difference between regular seeds an fem seed growth wise . Cause I seen a guy post in this thread that said he only grows regular seeds cause the produce more . So if I get fem seeds is it possible that I could grow some eight toppers in five gallon pots or will I still need to go with seven gallon pots to get the big yields like most of you guys have in the picture's
