The Official Canna Coco & Nutrients Thread

Hey guys hope this is the right thread. Starting a new grow, a few C.O.T.C. Cash Crop autos. I have always used a basic FloraNova regiment.
Stoped by the store to pick up more and the man gave me a free bottle of CANNA start and CANNA A&B. Told me to grow it side by side with my normal setup he was sure it would make a new customer of me.
Normaly I wait quite a while before adding and nutes, so whats the deal? should I just fallow the regular CANNA schedule? How do I properly use the CANNA start. He also told me to use regular tap water. Is this correct or is he just blowing smoke up my ass????

The Canna Start works ok. However, the Rhizotonic is what you really want for the young ones. I normally start them on Rhizotonic (15ml/Gal) until there are true leaves on seedlings, or for a few days on cuts. Then I hit them with 4ml/Gallon of both A and B, and then move my way up. By week two I'm usually at 6-8 ml/gallon and start adding cannazym while cutting my Rhizo back.

Canna Start is basically baby food, but it precipitates really easy from storage. If your starting water is under 300ppm, just use it. If you are not sure, bring a bottle of your water to your local hydro shop and ask them to test it. Canna is still the best nutrient line up in my eyes. The plants grow great and the quality of herb borders on organic with respect to flavor and burn quality.

ya, if you were to use the recommended feed chart, could you imagine how burnt your tips would had been? holy hell. i have read journals where growers were giving em the full 15 mL. Any strain i have had would be FRYED mixing at their suggestion.
This is what happened to me. I saw a video where a guy had really nice plants and he was hitting them 15ml/gallon every watering so I thought sweet, I'll do that. Turned my plants very dark green and caused all kinds of N tox problems.

I've read from other growers that with Canna A+B, less is more. Some even called for PPMs as low as 400 in flower. I think the chart calls for 1800ish at peak feeding levels. My White Widows are in the 3rd week of flower and even at half the recommended dose, the N tox got worse. Flushed again and then will fall back to 1/4 recommended.

From recent experience, I would suggest avoiding the Canna chart in terms of dosage, and use it as a general guide. I used the recommended amounts on the schedule and got serious N toxicity. I flushed and dialed it back by half, and the got N tox again. I'm now working on 1/4 the amount. We will see how that goes.

I've read from other very experienced growers that less is more with Canna A+B. The results are amazing, but like anything else, you have to watch what you're doing and don't overfeed. Try starting at 1/4 the chart dose. If the plant stays resilient, move to half, and so on. Most of the experienced growers I've seen don't use a lot of nutes, but I'm sure mileage varies.

sooo pretty much feed them as much as you can with out signs of stress. Start with a 1/4 and see what happens.

That's what I'll be doing for the rest of this grow and and the next. Specifically watch out for N toxicity and bending leaf margins. My only signs of trouble were the nitrogen claw, really dark leaves and rippled leaf margins. I didn't have any yellowing, so I thought I was OK, but my plants were actually very sick.

Looking at the canna calculator chart it doesn't come close to 1800 ppm's. 1100 is max

I used cannas feed chart for my whole grow. Started around half strength light feed schedule, and worked my way up to full strength heavy feed schedule with no burning, or ill side affects. I should mention I run co2 at 1500 ppm so this makes a difference.

OK, that's a different one then I've been using. I'll use this going forward. Interesting though, I've been feeding at 5ml/gal and my plants almost turned black third week in flower.

At the 3rd week flower, I was running 13ml/gal. It has a lot to do with what strain you are growing. The querkle pheno I have is a heavy feader. Another interesting tidbit from this run, I rarely had any runoff when I watered, and never gave them a flush until the last 3 days.

I'm growing white widow at the moment. I've read other growers feeding these guys without issue. I on the other hand have had nothing but problems since moving to flower.

What I don't understand about canna A+B is why they always have to be used together. For example, I currently have an N tox problem, but I can't dial back the N without dialing back the P and K. What if my plant is sensitive to too much N but will gladly take more P and K? According to Canna, the plants get the N whether you like it or not.
