The Plan...

Originally I posted that I was planning a small grow(about 2-4 plants) but just got redirected to the FAQs. So I did some research, and made a more detailed plan, here it is:

4 plant 2'x2' setup

Germing
Put seeds in wet paper towel, plant them after root is about 1 inch long

Vegging
6-8 cool white CFLs (12000 Lumens total)
FIM'd at 4th or 5th leaf set
16/8
20-5-5 Nutrient
Vegging until about 1 foot tall

Flowering
6-8 warm white CFLs (12000 Lumens total)
12/12 Lighting Cycle
5-15-5 Nutrient

Harvesting
No idea yet

Shopping List
6-12 cool white CFLs
6-12 warm white CFLs
Moisture Metre
Magnification Device for sexing

Notes
pH level of 6
3000 Lumens/sqft

Just wondering if some vets, and or anyone could look it over, and give me some suggestions. If you dont feel like suggesting anything, you could just point me in the right direction in terms of where/what to research.

Thanks guys!

for vegging i go 24/0 some people do 18/6, also you might want to save for an HID for flowering(florcents will work tho). ph should be neutral..7 and make sure your medium drains good, nutrients you have should work. when you flower your plant will double or triple its size by harvest so grow according to your space..other than that just keep looking on here its a great place to get started and learn good luck

I'm going for the same thing. My main problem is finding good nutes and getting my Vent. system set up. If I were you i would use HPS lights for flowering.

Hiya Tigger

You're heading in the right direction, but what are you doing about ventilation and making sure the plants have sufficient co2 to use? What about odour control? What about keeping temperatures under control?

welcome to the forum. Do not let the tap root get about 1" long before planting it or you will not be able to plant it without damaging the root. This will stress your plant and could kill it. VV

I wouldnt wait that long, they'll tend to curl at 1/4 ".. I put mine in moisten rock wool as soon as I see root..bean up, root down

Thanks again guys, I'll change the germing stage of the plan...as for ventilation, I wasn't sure it was a huge deal, same with co2 for small grow, are those huge factors I need to consider?

As for odour control, gonna see how it smells at first, and then i saw a DIY where you put an odour neutralizing agent in a bucket with water, and a fan in the top of the bucket, blowing it out, so i was going to use that idea if i had to.

Lets lock you up in an airtight room with a bucket of water and some lights and no oxygen and see how long you last for.

But He said it himself it is a small grow now many plants survive without Co2 and ventilation what he and I would like to know is how crucial I mean the plant has to get co2 on its own? What are some easy ways of achieving this otherwise?:blsmoke:

A plant leaf uses up all the co2 around it within 3 minutes, unless that co2 is replaced growth will grind to a halt - co2 is one of the 4 essential building blocks for plant growth, without it a plant cannot grow. That's why people install ventilation systems that replace all the air within a grow chamber every 3 minutes so a plentiful supply of co2 reaches the plant leaves.

Sure you can grow without a ventilation system, don't expect too much at harvest though.

Well I'm planning on doing the grow in a dresser or wardrobe, would I simply need to setup and intake fan and an exhaust fan? I would assume this would simply circulate oxygen, no? If it's just a matter of setting up an intake and exhaust system, that is easy peezy.

Good data.

Too right. Without any sort of ventilation, I would expect that overtemp or powdery mildew caused by excessive humidity would kill the plants long before harvest. 'Not expecting much at harvest' is a bit of an understatement. ;)

New growers should note that when we use the term 'ventilation' around here, like babygro says, it usually means a proper, ducted vent system capable of changing the grow area's entire air volume in 3 mins or so, not just leaving a closet door open a couple hours a day.

actually, the ph is supposed to be on the slightly acidic side.
Quite correct. Specifically, pH should be run at about 5.3-5.8.

ya good soil ph is 6 to 6.5
If your going to grow in a dresser you need to be pretty creative with your vent,,intake and out as well as how to keep temps down.....really hard to call the dam things steath when the basterds humming when you walk up on it:( I tried..takes some air movement to make these things reasonable temp wise
good luck on the grow bro

Thanks guys, me and my roomate are building this weekend. Changing to a hydroponic grow, cause we're starting from clones our friend is giving us. Don't worry I read all about the nutes, pH and other info that differs from soil. If you're interested, we're using a bubbler system.

Put those clones in soil. Hydro growing is not advised for a noob. Soil is much more forgiving. I tried hydro and my plants did not grow at all. I could not get that shit all balanced, all the time. After 10 days hydro I bailed and stuck em in dirt. they took off right away. This harvest will kick ass. I just looked at the triclomes today and determine that harvest is only about a week away.

Venting is critical. Check on it.

Whatever you grow your weed in, be sure to continue learning... you are off on a great start.
