I'm lucky enough to have a 40sqm space where I can go nuts.

It's a 10x4m area at the back of a 200sqm shed. I've run power to the shed and have installed the sub board and I've got the shed gpo's installed. Including two dedicated 15a circuits, 3 power circuits (one dedicated to the grow area + rain water tank), and two lighting circuits.

The 10*4 area will be behind a wall, with a work shop (wood + metal fab) in front of it.

I'm currently playing with insulation ideas with sound dampening in mind as well. The work shop will be lined with lots of storage which creates good opportunity for stealth entrance.

The shed entrances are all at one end which actually works well to disrupt depth perception which I think will only be enhanced by the internal workshop. I've checked depth perception by placing objects where the internal wall will go, then standing in the doorway and glancing along the inside and outside of the wall. Even in it's current open state you would find it hard to perceive the objects where the internal wall will be are not at the back of the shed, so I think this will work very well once the workshop is in.

I'm interested to hear other people's ideas, thoughts on the layout I've drawn up. I am considering two separate 2x1 meter flower chambers, a 2x1 meter mother/veg chamber, and a 1x1 pollen chucking changer just for experimenting basically.

I've thrown in some furniture as well. A fridge for storage/drinks, a TV, a trimming desk (cause that can be laborious) and a couch in case I need to have a break

It's going to take me some time to collect material and finish constructing but in the mean time I've got a 2x1 homebox tent to throw a few grows through. I'm planning on a mediumless flood and drain style grow which will be a bit of an experiment, but I'll be able to turn it into a flood and drain dwc if needed.

This will be a slow thread, but hopefully I can return with some updates frequently enough to keep you entertained

Dawg.

Oh my! I'd go nuts if I had that much space. Lol how much height, veg on racks less footprint.
Hey mate, yeah it's hard not to go nuts actually, but I think I want space in there to walk around as well. Hence the orientation of the flower chambers. Enough to access the back of a tent. The Veg/mother tent I don't think I'll need access to the back so that go up against the wall. But it was very tempting not to go overboard. I ran 25mm2 3 phase 240v to the shed so there is enough power there, but the power points are standard 2.5mm cable and I didn't want to go too big and have to run a separate circuit. It already has a dedicated circuit (disguised as a circuit for two outdoor sockets that probably won't ever get used). So yes if I went too nuts I'd also have to go nuts on lighting which I don't think I'll need. I've had large grow areas before. I built a 3x1.5m room years ago and ran that for the better part of 5 years, but besides that I have only had a single 2x1 tent at a time. This will be the first time I'll have 4x1 dedicated flower and 2x1 veg/mother. I'm really looking forward to having a place for mother's. In the past I've lost something very special which I stumbled upon with an accidental White Russian x soma amnesia Haze. With this set up all new seeds popped will remain mother's until final smoke reports come in. That one I lost, it's been about 16/17 years and I still get asked if I am ever getting that back. But it was a 1 in a million and never coming back. All other seeds were so, so different as is the case with a first generation, but I don't want that to ever happen again! It didn't look special at all through flowering, but when it was drying, every day I inspected it I would notice more and more large water drop sized dots of oil. At first I thought it was "sap" because it was so large, but I looked at one under the microscope when they kept coming and I could see a ruptured trichome. Literally bursting with oil all over the girl. Very small yield but oh my god, a smoke like you wouldn't believe. I'll never get anything like that again but that's the reason I also want a pollination chamber. Just to throw my own pollen around occasionally and generate some of my own unique genetics and then maybe backcross it. Hey, it's a hobby.

Height is about 4m as well. That's a 2.4m ladder in the picture. When I go to the top I can't reach the center of the roof, but at the edges I can just get there. Pretty hairy trying to do things up that high so I'm going to buy a mobile scaff, or hire one, possible a small scissor lift to install insulation on the steel roof. But yes, height won't be an issue either. It will probably be wasted, but I can build shelving up the wall and use the height for storage.

Shed! Hahaha!

We'd call that a warehouse over here.

I'm liking your style though, especially the amount of space you're allocating to chilling, trimming ect. Nothing worse than been cramped up when growing.

So what the plan regarding air exchange?
Or is it going to be a sealed room either co2?

As for sound insulation, I'd highly recommend it, do your research, but I'd be isolating everything in there.
No point having a stealth room if anyone can hear it.

Look forward to seeing it progress!

Thanks for the prompt about air exchange!
I haven't really thought too much about it yet, but my initial thoughts were to have the roof like a wide A
The peak has an opening to allow heat to escape and if I hang the insulation and the ceiling down from the peak it will create a void that runs along the building with a vented cap that's 20m long. I can duct into that and it'll find it's easy out.

I was thinking about CO2 as well, mainly because I've never grown with it before so would be a good experience. I also tend to overdo lighting and go a little heavier on nutes so extra CO2 might be beneficial.

But you can see in the picture, the red line is where I'll use the cross member (I think it's a bit of C section) to hang the ceiling a bit lower and cut the top off the A.

The blue circle is the skylight style ridge cap. The sheet metal is bent up at this point to stop water being blown up hill under the cap and into the shed during heavy thunder storms. I can use the little 2ft deep void in this area to vent into.

For in take, I've thought of a couple of options.
Most stealthy would be up rely on the gaps around the bottom of all the walls where the tin overlaps the slab. This would require me to end the insulation above these gaps, then I can have a vent from the wall cavity (because I'm cladding in ply as well) into the room. However I'm also worried about moist air coming into the wall cavity that way during winter. Not sure if it would be good to have airflow through there to help moisture removal or if it would make it worse. I'm putting up anti-con but it's definitely not a professional job.

Another option is to vent through the ply/anticon/steel to the back of the workshop (that's the 4m wall near the flower chambers). I would probably go this route I think, and stack some junk up around the vent outside so it's hidden.

The third option would be to vent in from the workshop through the false wall. I think this carries added risk of having any friends or family that might spend an extended period of time in there asking what's behind the wall. I could do some sneaky stuff like have it inside a cupboard or behind a bench but I think this would compromise the soundproofing a fair bit.

Option 2, no one goes to the back of the building. It's on a very large block and there is a firebreak, but also a big mound of dirt that makes it kind of hairy to walk between the mound and the building.

If you’re that worried about being sneaky I’d be worried about starting off that big. I mean it doesn’t take many plants to produce enough to have surplus for you and some close friends.
Plus it takes more than just chucking resources at a hobby in growing these amazing plants.
It’s also easy to be ambitious with space like that tho so if it were mine I would be too! Imo I’d build a decent size room and put a couple tents in it. Then focus on controlling the main room. If all worked out I’d build smaller rooms into the main room (lung).
Proper HVAC like a split unit
Insulation
Drainage
Water supply
GFI’s
Isolated panel
Generator if automated…

Edit: My apologies as I didn’t see you have been growing a bit as I did t read your whole post :eyesmoke:
But the rest of what I would do is in there lol
Peace brotha and curious to see how u make your setup work!!

I've just put together a tent in the space. Just want to get a grow in while I continue to collect materials and sort out the shed. I've got a lot of crap in there.

I've got a budbox pro (I think the XXL plus HL).

Their web site lists it as 5'x10'x7'4" / 150x300x220cm
Which sounds about right. I just needed a small step ladder to put the top poles in.

It feels a lot better than the old Seahawk tent I used to have, about the same size. Putting it together felt easier too and I feel like this one would be easier to rip down.

I don't like that there is no access from the back, and I might need to change my idea of how I was going to have it laid out. I was hoping to have plenty of room around the back. This one has an access either side so it might be backed up to the wall. Will see how I go when I finally get under way.

This one is white on the inside. Looks like we've come fill circle lol. I was growing a long time ago when we had the off-gas'ing issue with panda film type tents and they all went silver. This material feels a lot different to touch though.

The final zip together after putting the thing up did give me trouble. Had a missfire on the main zip up the middle. Was a real struggle to get it to pull together and I got frustrated and that ended up with the "beans above the frank" kind of scenario. But I recovered and tried again and everything fell into place.

I also went through and cataloged my old seed collection haha. Most of these seeds are old and would be very hard to sprout.

Some are 28 years old!
Lol 17yr old stoner artwork on the box. It's held up alright over the years.

Haha my eagle looks like a parrot though

There are some newer genetics in there too, which I'll start with before trying to save the older stuff. Probably start with jelly donutz first and see how that goes.

From Friends:
New York City Diesel ("Dubs diesel”; bought from dubman on the Celtic Stone forums years ago

BB - Just labeled "BB" I can't even remember where they came from but I think it's big bud, not blueberry.

Randome seeds found in CD case. I'm pretty sure it was from a PGR laden bag I bought at 17 (45 now). The seeds did grow some pretty awesome plants at the time, even though whoever I bought it off used PGR's.

Skunk #1- grew one that hermied on me and these seeds ALWAYS hermi now. I think they have a disposition to hermi due to being hermi spawn. I'll probably end up tossing these out.

White Russian x Amnesia Haze. Absolute gold hidden in here. Such variation in each plant, I lost an absolute winner and wish to grow some more out one day in the hopes I'll find another. Doubt it though, was a once in a lifetime plant.
