Can't help ya there buddy. Call any Nursery or grower of ornamentals and they'll all tell ya it's common practice. No need to take pictures. Because everyone already knows it works. But...ain't there always a big but somewhere?...Now you're on RIU and these growers are of a different species all together.
The childish vanity and immaturity. The list is long...but (another big but)...there's lots of helpful intel and guys that are really cool about sharing what they know. And I don't mind sifting through a little bullshit to get what I need. Sometimes it even makes me laugh.
I've taken more plants out of pots and root pruned them than anyone. (not cannabis) Thousands of 2 quart perennials that were pot bound and just begging for some room to breathe. Really, anything with a fiberous root system is so ez to repot, root prune, relocate. But...
Don't sound too rigid and too athoritative or black and white...cuz there's always someone who'll take exception. Because that's what they do.

heres both girls from the start of the thread... unfortunately the smaller topped one turned out to be female, after being supercropped below the cotyledons twice, trimmed down, talked shit to and punched multiple times (which makes me feel as if sex is predetermined, but that both sexes have the ability to turn into a hermaphrodite-this is not based on fact just personal experience)

as you can see im also testing out what happens when you supercrop a plant while shes flowering.

heres pics of all the girls im leaving in 16oz cups, a couple in the 16oz cups are a week older than the smaller ones. there are pics compare the transplant into 1gal pot compared to the same exact strain, both the same age. also a pic of a plant just a couple weeks or so (cant be exact on the date) older than the others, also started under 12/12.

prime example of what plants do when they start/are rootbound. we'll take a closer look on color in a week or so. to try to improve the color ive started raising and lowering ph levels of a couple, also started feeding a couple with a raised dose of ferts. lets see if any of those techniques work.

thanks man, pretty excited to see what a girl really looks like being grown from seed to finish in 16oz cup. gave her almost a double dose of newts, ill take more pics in a couple days.

here are some recent pics of both girls at the very start of the thread. both are trifoliate plants. experimental supercrop during flowering is going better than expected. i figured that the colas would slow down, and the bottom flowers would start to fill out, naahh, they are booming and growing exactly the same as before, except that being supercropped the canopy has a lot more surface area for the light to get to, also it keeps my canopy at the desired height i want. really glad i decided to try it out, it was worth the risk. (in a few more weeks im going to supercrop again, so i can see if it makes any difference being further into flowering)

the other girl is the one i was trying to make male, so i could breed both trifoliate genotypes to make a phenotype, which didnt work out. /sigh maybe some day ill get another opportunity, can only hope.

I am against false info as well, when I need to know something about my grow I want it to be useful information to make it better. A rule I use is 1gallon per month of plant life....so far I have had 0 problems with plants being rootbound

I got cab grow and cant let my plants go taller than 3.5 ft. At the moment they're 7inch in height, in 1.8 gallon (4.5 l) pots. The grow shop said this should be fine til harvest... would you suggest to go bigger?
Plus I just repotted one of the plants and noticed that roots were circling around the edges, its not a mess tho, you can still follow the roots... is this already called root bound? I think of it as normal.. but then again this is my first grow.

I am a nursery owner, and have grow herb for 39 years, but my knowledge and experience was not accepted as being enough ... oh no, the OP needs to pick a "winner."

the winners are the people who get some good information out of this and use it to help not only their grows, but others as well.

the losers are the self willed ignorant people who still believe that rootbound conditions don't exist, or that it doesn't have a very big impact on the growth of the plant.

ok here we go. the first pic explains a lot. i'm transplanting 1 of the 16oz cup experiments that is super rootbound into a 1gal bag. ill take pic once a day to show you guys the difference in growth and color compared to the rest of the plants shown in the pics.

im going to be taking you through the whole growth cycle, so you can see that a plant looking sooo yellow and stunted can turn around SO fast and all you gotta do is transplant correctly (though my experiments i've had best results using my way of transplanting, but everyone has their own way of transplanting)

if you've been with me since the beggining hang in there, only a couple more months till we see what you get from 16oz cup grow 12/12 from sow.

even if you cannot except the real truth about rootbound plants, you will see it

Are you feeding the plants in party cups the amount of nutrients that they need?
I'm not disagreeing with you, but you cannot deny the fact that a plant with barely any soil is going to have way less nutrients fed into it as a plant with ample soil. I think that you need to boost feeding in the party cup to the point that it would equal the amount of nutrition that the plants in the pots are getting. This way your experiment will only have one variable, and that's pot size.

ahh great question! thank you for asking. yes ive been upping the dose just as i have the rest of them, and just gave the smallest girl in the solo cup a near double dose of ferts, no signs of burning yet.. but no color changes either. thanks bro good thinking, ive never tried to grow the whole way 12/12 from sow, im just doing my best to keep them as healthy as i can.

edit- just watered all 5 of the 16oz cup experiments with double dose of ferts, lets see if we get green or burnt

heres the woman that i transplanted at the start of the thread, the only plant in my garden in a 5gal bag, and def. the biggest. the supercrop is working out beautifully, thinking about doing it again to one of the nodes in a few more days.

i think she's like 2 1/2 or 3 weeks into flowering... i cant remember id have to look

lol look at the before pics on this page of this one, i just realized these pics are only 3 days apart. soooo pretty cool little supercrop during flowering experiment for ya, try it out it works!

Aw man dont look down on your experience that way man.. you shouldnt really care what other people think, i mean its kinda basic knowledge that if your experience exceeds the age of the people who are trying to degrade it.. that your the one whos highest on that 'ladder'.
