The second impeachment of Donald trump*

I'm interested in any evidence that impeaching a person who is no longer President, is a constitutional thing.

Does that mean Obama can be impeached for illegally allowing the NSA to collect phone records etc. ?

George Bush (the idiot) can be impeached for invading Iraq on false pretenses ?

FDR could be impeached for incarcerating U.S. citizens without due process ?

Abe Lincoln could be impeached for jailing the press critical of his ideas ?

Also, could any other Presidents be impeached for issuing "executive orders" ? (Not sure they are a constitutional allowed thing)
This was one of the articles congress mentioned yesterday
Fourteenth Amendment, Section 3
"No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

I only heard a portion of the testimony regarding the economic damage & the ripple effects the Capitol riot had upon the nation. Trump should be sued to recover that. The Sicknick family should be suing Trump, Stone, Cruz, Hawley, Biggs, Gosar, & the rest.

Heather Heyer's mother correctly predicted this. More murder.

ummmmmm it's in the Constitution and he was already being impeached while still in office (not that it matters). Mcconnell dragged his feet.

Nikki Haley breaks with Trump: 'We shouldn't have followed him'
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley issued stunning remarks breaking with former President Trump, telling Politico in an interview published Friday that she believes he “let us down.”

“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” Haley, who served in her ambassador role under Trump, said. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.”

And to think she was sucking up to him with eyes on being a president herself.

So after Trump speaks with Tuberville during the riot & knows the mob is hunting down people, he tweets about Pence not having courage as the mob is shouting "Hang Mike Pence" and a gallows has been erected. We came perilously close to having our own VP, the VP of the "greatest country in the world" hanged on live TV. . . . . . .
If Mr Trumpf had been any kind of leader, and actually walked down to the Capitol with his folks like said he was going to do, it would have caused the cops to hold back. It might have been just enough time for them to get to the VP and SOTH. Who just happen to be the 2nd and 3rd in line. We got very lucky he is not a leader.

Merrick Garland the next AG is watching all this shit on TV and he's not watching fox either! Trump committed crimes here too and a court of law will surely convict him for it, the evidence thus presented in the impeachment trial should insure an investigation and indictment. Donald might skate on this with the GOP senate, but it will cost them and a court will do Donald for the same crime with in months anyway.

If Donald is not convicted by the senate he will own the GOP and remain a real and present danger. The only way Trump could be convicted by the senate is by secret ballot and that will come as a surprise at the end of the trial, if it happens. If they don't convict Trump they will own him and he will own them, they will be with him through all those coming criminal trials and investigations too. The corps and big money have made it clear they want nothing to do with the big lie or the crazies who support it. If HR-1 passes it will cut off a lot of the dark money they've been playing with and I would expect hard financial times for them in 2022.

Nikki knows that the big bucks are cut off for the crazies who support Trump and the big lie. Donald lead them over the cliff on fire and they are burning brightly in the slipstream as they plunge screaming into the abyss .

As long as Trump does not have a good way to talk to his minnions then the GOP establishment may win out. They are betting he will fade away. But if it comes to primaries and Trump is on the slate then you could find him get the position. Will he be able to win an election? Depends what happens in the next four years. If Biden really tries to make a difference then there may be enough people hurt to vote against him. And in the four years all the 'red' states will change their voting laws so it will be hard for a democrat to win.

Biden wants it to go away, doubt there will be a federal charge against Trump.
Not his call, it's Merrick Garland's, Biden wants the senate business cleared for his agenda, recovery, covid and now infrastructure. He also wants Trump out of the way, but will stay above the fray as they say, he will keep an arms length from the DOJ, as is normal in such circumstances. After what we've seen in the trial, I don't think Joe or his AG will obstruct justice, the case was proved in public and hundreds of his suckers will go down for it, many saying he incited them! This is one Merrick Garland will have to investigate and indict, congress will recommend it and there would be letters, petitions from DOJ alumni, bar associations, etc, lots of heat to do the right thing.

They will not pick up more than the six they have.

Biden is a 'can't we all work together ' guy. Garland is no fool. It would be a hard enough time proving Trump understood what he was unleashing. It could tie up political considerations right through Biden's term. That is if Trump can get lawyers to defend himself. Might have to pay Rudy his bill yet.

Biden isn't like trump.......he won't tell the Justice Dept. how to run their dept. or who to indict.
It would be entirely up to them and Biden wouldn't intervene with his opinion. IMO.
They watched the impeachment trial on TV too, they made their case for them! Congress, house and senate are gonna recommend indictments to the DOJ, Merrick Garland, the next AG has been glued to the fucking tube for the past few days of the trial! As has every lawyer and judge in the Goddamned country!
