the thing that irritates me most is....

I am not giving legal advice... legal advice would be, telling him/her what types of forms to file when to file and such as it relates to the persons direct case. I merely stated my opinion, and gave specific reasons for my opinion. I am very opinionated as I am sure you are well aware now TTMK... and if you think the court system is too hard to understand. I have one phrase used expertly by that same court "ignorance of the law is no excuse". Go to jail, and $200 dollars please.

I never said the law couldn't be understood, In fact I have represented myself and won the case.

I simply said its not very becoming to give legal advice on a weed forum.....

You honestly don't think you are trying to give advice?
Go back and look at your first post on all this law stuff......YOU WERE GIVING HIM ADVICE.....

If that dude is dumb enough to not know how to make a thread and just post that shit in every thread that is already up (like he did yesterday)
You honestly think he is capable of representing himself in a court of law?
I don't

All im saying is you think you sound really smart talking about all this law shit and you may think it was because of you that you buddy got out of trouble....but it wasn't......there was a 50-50 chance and it just so happened you were right.....THAT TIME....

I will ask 1 more time.....since when does that qualify you to give legal advice? (especially on a weed forum)

I was going to talk about how i hate people that pee in my living room; cause it's Christmas and they think their outside. However this legal conversation is kinda interesting. First off, fight every ticket you receive. You have nothing too lose! (except your time and maybe a couple o bucks). As said above, depending on the crime's severity you may or may not want to defend yourself. Some states are real tough on drug paraphernalia. $1200 seems ridiculous, however you've been to jail before. They're probably trying to stick it to ya. Get a public defender. It is their job to defend you. If you don't feel comfortable with one, then pray that you can find a lawyer who is willing to take your case. I once got nailed by a cop after leaving a bar. I was completely drunk and should have gone to jail. Instead the cop gave me a $630 ticket for speeding and some other shit. Not wanting that on my insurance I fought it in court and I lucked out. Emphasis on the "lucked out". Good luck.

You are correct I did give ONE(loosely) piece, NEVER WAIVE YOUR RIGJT TO TRIAL. Everything else is my opinion, and I have a right to express that where ever I want, you are free to listen or ignore me where ever you want. The question was not NON-WEED related, maybe I should not have answered on this thread, but threads get mixed up all the time on RIU, you know that. Ask any lawyer if you should waive your right to trial, and you will get the same piece of advice that I gave. I will repeat all else is only my opinion, and opinion is what forums are all about... even a weed forum. If you had not noticed there is a legal section on RIU, and I have already admitted I answered a question asked on the wrong thread, but the kid is scared, probably can't think straight not stupid, and is crying out for help. What did you do to help anything? Did you direct him to any one who can help, at least I gave him a direction to ask specific questions. The advice about living with his mother is not legal, I just advised him to have respect for his moms wishes, and not smoke while under her roof. That is totally good advice, the last thing anybody needs is to not have a place to feel comfort after a day of dealing with court issues.

Another thing... it is not legal advice if the case is past, which it is, he already has his fines. I am smart and clever, because I LEARN, I talk with people and I will never stop learning. In fact I pretty much learn something new everyday. My father worked as an investigator for an attorney for many many years, my brother in-law is a workmans comp. lawyer, who was also a corporate lawyer for PG&E for 30 years. I am not saying there are not good lawyers, but most could care less. There is a saying prosecuting lawyers have "throw the book at them and see what sticks" in reference to the defendant. Also just because I say represent yourself does not mean you will get off scott free. However you have a better chance of making your own deal with the D.A. and a better chance of getting a reduced sentence. Just because some body goes to prison does not make the fact of a failed case battle, there are countless people that have represented themselves and were maybe facing 50 years and have brought the sentence down 1/4 or 1/2 the time. I will say this though do your own investigation on anything, even what I say, I have admitted to being wrong in the past, and I will do so again most likely. You don't know me TTMK... so why don't you try before hating.

I had too long of a day to read all of what you posted.....and that font gives me a head ache....

So I guess my bad for saying anything I just don't think its right to advise possibly gullible people (im not accusing you of that) on an anonymous weed forum
