The Xanax Thread...My Favorite Palindrome

Back before I knew any better I would take like 3-4 bars then go out and drinking. The summer between my junior and senior years was just a blur. Or was that the summer after I graduated? I had to stop taking them once I started college. No joke, if I would take more than 1-2mg and drink I would more often than not wake up next to, or at the very least end up making out with fat chick.

Man, I remember a time in high school that really freaked me out. I went out that night with nothing but my wallet with $20 in it, a lighter, and a pack of Marlboro lights. I woke up the next morning with a different lighter, a brand of menthol which I didn't smoke at the time, and about $100 and almost 1/4oz of weed. I honestly could not remember a single thing. My only explanation at the time was that I must have robbed someone, which was crazy for me since I don't steal. After talking with my friends later that day, I found out that I got this guy we knew to front me an oz of weed. I ended up selling most of the weed in under 2 hours, paid the dude his money, and profit plus the weed I had left over is what I woke up with the next day.
Gotta love when you piece it together and things are good!

AHAHAH yeah , im a real bad ass, well due to my old drug addiction my mom has to hold onto them and i can only have them when i really need them, that way i dont get back into the habit as i was a big opiate kinda person so i figured those would be right next to another addiction since they are closeish

Dont worry I can't have prescriptions at my disposal either. If I did they would be gone real quick. I've seen some people try to get off Xanax almost looked more painful than opiates to me.

Only time I ever took xanax was when I ran out of Effexor for a week. It stopped the brain tingles, nausea, anxiety and night sweats.

Effexor withdrawal made concurrent opioid and benzo withdrawal look enjoyable.
For sure. All I could do was cry and shake on the couch for two days. Couldn't sleep without horrible nightmares that I could hardly wake from. When I did wake I had either pissed the bed, soaked my pillow with sweat, or both.

Turning my head made the room spin and there was this constant tingling at the base of my skull. Felt like insects moving around in my head.

anxiety meds
Or so they say at least. That was the very first one I was on for anxiety when I was 16 or 17. Even after 2 months, the side effects were still way worse than the symptoms. I hear it works better for people with severe depression. I've taken almost every SSRI and SNRI on the market and I got very little relief from them with anxiety or depression.

Say what you will about benzos, but they do have amazing therapeutic value. Once I stopped taking them like an asshole, they really helped me out a lot. As long as you don't take them every day or take a day or two off after a couple consecutive days, my tolerance stayed low and it keeps the risk of dependency low. Haven't had a benzo script of my own in almost a year, but I like to keep some valium around.

Effexor is for severe depression and anxiety.

The side affects are minimal for me. Dehydration (drink more water) and lowered sex drive and sensitivity (Which is good for me because I am a total hornball and irresponsible without the meds).

The withdrawals are what hurt. It is a very hard med to come off of.

Yup and that is completely downplayed by the medical establishment. They are actually encouraged not to use the word "withdrawal" and came up with the cute euphemism "discontinuation syndrome" or "cessation syndrome." In my personal and professional opinion, too much of these medications and being prescribed by general practitioner. Nothing against family doctors, but very few are trained or qualified in diagnosing mental illness and should not be handing out these medications so haphazardly. That's what psychiatrists are for. Honestly, I think it should be illegal for anyone other than a psychiatrist to prescribe head meds.
