If his mother was an American citizen it doesn't matter where he was born, he is automatically an American citizen. Do you people really think that all these babies born to military families stationed in other countries aren't American citizens?

you have to be born in the USA to become the prez

You have to be a natural born citizen to be pres. It doesn't mean you actually have to be born on US soil. If your parents are citizens you are automatically a US citizen no matter when you pop out of the vagina at. This law was made specifically because of military familes having babies outside of the country.

Frequently Asked Questions About Naturalization

2. Who is born a United States citizen?
Generally, people are born U.S. citizens if they are born in the United States or if they are born to U.S. citizens:
(a) By being born in the United States
If you were born in the United States (including, in most cases, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), you are an American citizen at birth (unless you were born to a foreign diplomat). Your birth certificate is proof of your citizenship.
(b) Through birth abroad to TWO United States citizens

In most cases, you are a U.S. citizen if ALL of the following are true:
  • Both your parents were U.S. citizens when you were born; and
  • At least one of your parents lived in the United States at some point in their life.
(3) Through birth abroad to ONE United States citizen
In most cases, you are a U.S. citizen if ALL of the following are true:
  • One of your parents was a U.S. citizen when you were born;
  • Your citizen parent lived at least 5 years in the United States before you were born; and
  • At least 2 of these 5 years in the United States were after your citizen parent's 14th birthday*.

His mother was a citizen when he was born, check

She had lived in the US for at least five years of her life before she gave birth , check

She lived in the US for at least 2 of those 5 years after the age of 14 , check

it wouldn't matter if Obama was born in space, he would still be a citizen.

Barry Goldwater ran in 1964, was born in Arizona territory before it was a state
George Romney ran in 1968, was born in Mexico
Lowell weicker ran in 1980 was born in India to a father that was British
JOHN MCCAIN was born in Panama Although the Panama Canal Zone was not considered to be part of the United States,[7] federal law states: "Any person born in the Canal Zone on or after February 26, 1904, and whether before or after the effective date of this chapter, whose father or mother or both at the time of the birth of such person was or is a citizen of the United States, is declared to be a citizen of the United States."[8] The law that conferred this status took effect on August 4, 1937, one year after John McCain was born — albeit with retroactive effect, resulting in McCain being declared a U.S. citizen.[9]

Straight from your own wikipedia article next time read the whole article before you use it to try to back up an already weak arguement. If anything McCain should not be considered a citizen, he was born in 1936 and the citizenship law for panama didn't take effect until 1937.

Last I had heard Obama reps had filed a motion to have the case dismissed because of 'lack of jurisdiction'.. and that they are waiting for the motion to be decided on before anything else is done..

I agree with you Brutal.. this is a lot of trouble to go through to ignore it.. when McCain was questioned about his birth status he quickly came forward with everything, Obama however has not and instead is trying to get it thrown out- not for it not being true, but for it not having any legal jurisdiction over him? Obama's grandmother has openly said and bragged again and again how Obama was born in Kenya and how he was going to become the president of the U.S., Obama's sister says he was born in one Hawaii hospital, while Obama claims another..

I honestly have passed no judgment on what I believe, but it does seem fishy.. If something like this didn't come out until AFTER he became president that would set a VERY DANGEROUS precedent..

Obama has a valid US birth certificate stating he was born in Hawaii, and has put it on his web site. I guess that guy said the seal wasn't the same in both scans, but it's one of those raised paper deals that would look different under different lighting. You know, like all of us have on our birth certificates.

It would be easier to throw out a lawsuit based on jurisdiction than to respond to every one of the many accusations made against him.

Even if Obama was born on a plane, flying over spain, in the fucking rain, he'd still be a citizen due to his mother meeting citizenship requirments for having a baby anywhere.

He could have been born on the moon, during the month of June while whistling a tune and he'd still be a US citizen.

If he was born on a boat, near a goat , sailing a moat, he'd still be a citizen.

Maybe Seussing it up will help some of you understand the way it works. If you still can't get it, please return to your High School and give your diploma back, you must not have earned it.

Actually the qualifications for citizenship back then were slightly different then they are today.

but they are still on the US Gov immigration and naturalization website for all to see. I've posted the link. I've posted what the link says. It doesn't matter where he was born. His mother is a citizen and was a citizen for her entire life, that makes him a citizen no matter where he was born.
