I'm a very experienced grower but have not done an autoflower strain in over 5 years and even then it was just a couple. From what I remember it is recommended to plant your germinated seed into the same pot you plan on it finishing in. Is this still the general consensus? Has anyone tried planting into a solo cup then only transplanting once to the final container? Also, my veg tent is fairly small so I'd really like to move it to my flowering tent once it starts to flower. Will this cause a significant loss of yield vs keeping it on an 18/6 schedule or will 12/12 be sufficient?

Light schedule won't matter. Best bet is to plant in it's final home from germination. Don't wanna take a chance on stressing/stunting when auto's only take about 2 months avg. Not really any time to play with. Others may say different. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck with your grow.

You can transplant, but if you do it too late you will get poor yields, so its best to plant to final pot in the start, especially if you dont know autos well yet. If you are a pro, you might attempt even stuff like root pruning with smaller pots at first etc. But solo cups? hell no, unless you are in a situation where you have tons of seeds where you want to only select few best or something like that. Or if you have limited prenursery etc, it would be ok to keep them in solo cup for a moment, but much better to use small air pots or net pots or fabric pots than solo cups.

You can grow with 12/12, but you get bigger yield and less stretch with 18/6 or 20/4 light cycle. The only reason to do 12/12 with autos is if you have them in flowering room with photos.
