Three Plant/Three Strain Grow

I'm creating this grow journal for myself more than anything else. It will be nice to look back later on and see the process of my very first grow. I am pulling some pictures and info from another thread I started that was geared more towards getting a few questions answered. I will update often and take plenty of pictures. Any suggestions, praise, or criticism is welcome!

Here are a few pictures of my grow closet that I put together.

I have two 4.5 gallon buckets with plenty of holes drilled in the bottom. I filled each bucket with 2/3 Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil and 1/3 perlite.

I covered the walls and inside doors with mylar and the floor with white plastic. I am using a 400 watt MH/HPS light with a digital timer. I also have an osculating fan to keep the air moving in the closet. I don't think you can see it in the picture, but I also have a digital thermometer that gives me the high and low temps as well as the high and low humidity. I also have a humidifier that will stay on through the vegetative stage. I am using an 18/6 light schedule this time.

In the attic that is right beside the closet, I have installed an inline fan and air ducting into the closet.

Close up of the fan.

I made an air filter with activated carbon strips that will eventually be attached to my fan.

I bought a small bucket of Jack's Classic All Purpose 20-20-20 and Jack's Classic Blossom Booster 10-30-20 for my nutrients.

I am growing one Northern Lights x Skunk and one Afghan Kush x White Widow.

*Edit- I am also growing one New York 47 strain that was started a few weeks after the original two above.

I used rockwool cubes to germinate, which worked very well. Here are my plants in the rockwool right before I put them in soil:

Here they are one week since I put the two seeds in rockwool to germinate.

I will be adding some new pictures (as of today, 7/15) to this post that show the progress they have made since I started LSTing. I have some burn on one of the plants that I am assuming is from either the lights being too close or too much of the nutrient solution.

Sorry, here we are! I took one picture of each plant and then one close up of the new growth that has popped up since LSTing. They seem to be doing well since last night's flush and I'm keeping a close eye on them since I added the lime this afternoon.

Here they are after taking a break from LSTing for a few hours:

And here is the New York 47 still germinating. I finally have something breaking the top of the rockwool cube:

Both plants are now 8" tall, although they look shorter in the pictures because of LSTing.

Here is the Northern Lights x Skunk

Here is the Afghan Kush x White Widow

Here is the clone dome:

Here are the clones:

Now, I have a quick question. Here are closeup pictures of each plant. Is this just new growth, or is this preflowering?

The clones didn't make it as I obviously cut them way too small. Beginners mistake and I'll know better next time.

Today, I purchased the Advanced Nutrients Sensi A & B for vegging and Sensi A & B for flowering, their B-52 fertilizer booster, and their Big Bud product. I'm going to go back and pick up the Overdrive when I get closer to the final couple of weeks of flowering. I hope it was worth the money!

^ Thanks, it means a lot to get some positive feedback! That yellowing is just the cfls I have around the sides of the plant. They are both looks pretty healthy right now, although I am working on a slight ph issue. I will be flipping my girls to flowering this weekend as they will be 50 days old and are both showing female pre-flowers.

They look over fed to me. Too much nitrogen looks good at first, then starts to take its toll. I believe you should cut way back on your nutes, and consider flowering soon.... before you run out of room.

I do not see any preflowers.

They just finished their 24 hour dark period an hour ago and are now under 12/12.

I have most definitely been overfeeding as there was a bit of a misunderstanding with AN's nutrient calculator, but I have that figured out now.

I don't think they were too small, but I think cutting the leaf tips off of clones that small didn't do you any favors. Also, if you want to give smaller clones a better chance of success, make yourself (or buy) an aeroponic cloner. I picked up a daisy cloner and haven't had a fail since.
