Timber Fatty VS or Gavita 1650?

building a 5x5 tent to fit 4-6 plants in at a time. Was going to get a hlg 550 v2. But after research I think I’m going to go with a timber fatty vs or a gavita 1650. Any recommendations? Currently running a simple 4x2 with a diy Samsung strip led at about 300-325w. Will be turning my 4x2 into a veg tent and the 5x5 for flower.

I also have a brand new 8x4 tent I was considering using. But can’t afford all the light to fill it. I do have about 1000w worth the T5s I was thinking about setting up but it’s all small fixtures and don’t want to run that many in a 4x8.
For a 5x5 tent you could consider two of hlgs three-twenty three board fixtures, wattage and size is on point.

You should check out his journal, hes killing it with the fatty

I dont think a grower could go wrong with either brand to be honest.
Took me a smidge but i figured out his journal.
Not too tech savvy.
Not sure why it didn't come up in my search...

Very impressive, thick dank looking buds. I think I will get the fatty.
Seriously looking forward to ditching my 1k hps in the summer.

Thanks man!

The Fatty VS is a fine fixture in my novice opinion, very well made, bright as all get out. I really think it is what is making my second grow what it is. Yea they are not the cheapest option, but they work. The little bit of experience I have with it helped make the decision to get another Timber very easy.

If I can answer anything for you, just ask. If I can't @RainDan can!

If you had to choose all over again would you still go with the Fatty VS or try one of the other top brands of led? I'm stuck between a Fatty VS, The Growers Choice ROI-E680 and Gavitas new 1700e. I have to fill a 5x5. I have a 5x5 with an hlg600 but I could use a little more lighting I feel around the edges.

I won’t speak for flatrate cause I truly don’t know for sure.

what I will say, his journal screams of nothing but love for his timbers, he even went ahead and bought a second one.

So I think it’s prob safe to say he would stick with the timbers.

I don’t think anyone is gonna go wrong with the gavita either to be honest. Total beast of a light and a proven winner .

I’m a Timber fan too in my 5x5 and I considered the Gavita briefly too, I went with 3 of the 3vl instead of the Fatty. It’s basically the same output as a fatty but without the large frame and more flexibility to adjust height in different areas of the tent. They are daisy chained too so they run off one timer. I’m impressed as hell on these lights and Timber as a company. I would do it again.

Jonny Jetson,

No regrets at all man! I'am a big fan of Timber now, and when I find something good I don't stray from the brand. The thing that really sold me and helped me become a returning buyer is @RainDan and his crew, top notch friendly service. I know if I had a problem it would be taken care of quickly.
How's the heat in 5x5 with the fatty vs?

It can get warm if ya let it. Drivers and heatsinks are around 110-115 F and possibly higher depending on room temp. I actually just a hour or so ago installed two more small pole fans solely for the fixture. As it stands right now tent temp is 84F with a leaf temp of 78F. Could drop it lower if I kicked on the intake fan. With the new fans the drivers and heatsinks are around 98-103F.

That's about the same as the hlg600 heat wise. Did you notice an increase in yields with the Timber? Any co2 being used?
