Time to Harvest?

Ok, so I bought one of those teeny tiny microscopes and I have been trying to look but....the stuff moves, or I do and I only get fleeting glimpses. I dont want to cut a bud off just to see if it is ready to .......cut off! As far as I can see (and that isnt a lot) the little crystals are pretty clear. The hairs are around 50 % red - on the top of colas. Lower, they remain white.

Here are the things I don't know ......(well some of then anyways)

When it is said that 80% of hairs should be red.....does that mean on the top of colas ie the most prominent point....or all over?

Do the lower parts of colas mature more slowly?

I want a cerebral high - so do I want clear crystals as opposed to cloudy ones?

I can see the little seed pods (minus seed) swelling. Is that a good indicator of time to harvest?

Is drying an essential part of relaeasing psycoactive substances or can you simply vaporise new bud?

The photos in the first post in particular are fantastic to understanding a good harvest time.

As for the microscope, I don't think it's practical to try to use it on the plant. If you think you're really close, then clip off a small piece of bud to set it on a table and get a good look with the scope.
