Timer trouble

I bought a new timer that has an outlet on the top... that means that only lights pluged into the outlet will turn off and on right? i have a surge protector and was wondering if i plug other lights into the outlets one the surge protector if the timer will shut them off?

Yes, anything that connects to the outlet through the timer will be regulated by it. So if you have 2 lights plugged in to a surge protector, plugged in to a timer, plugged in to the electrical outlet, all lights will be on the same cycle.

u can buy a power strip with 6 outlets on it with a built in timer at walmart for about 15$ they are good & have always worked for me ~
