To cut or not to cut? That is the question.

Ok i have one nice lady. &she is starting 5th week of flower. i have raised her from seed ,and let her grow till about 3 ft tall. then i put her into flower the cab is only 4 ft tall so i laied her over and tied her down, since then she has turned into a hedg with nice colas on the tops, 9 to be exact.
my question is at what point will u do more harm than good by removing the small bud sights , the ones that are under the canapie, small and stragly and are not growing. is it worth removing them so all the energy can go to the tops? or will i do more harm? remember im starting 5 th week.

Mate, glad you asked! ... The bottom buds are useless (my opinion) I remove EVERYTHING on the bottom 2/3 of the plant, I do this about 2 weeks before flowering, again when i switch to 12/12 and again about 2-3 weeks into flowering.

5 weeks in, you could still do it and improve you top bud sites, I'm guna assume ur running an 8 week strain, if your strain flowers for longer than this, then you'll see more of an improvement.

Also a note for the future: An age old rule of thumb us 'heavy pruners' use lol, is that if we have multiple tops, e.g 9 tops, with healthy stalks etc, we select the 6 best ones to keep and all the other stalks etc are removed so the remaining 6 (healthiest) stems can produce their best product

thanks for the reply. i have been removing every thing from the botem, to give it plenty of breathing room. and i have been removing the small spindaly shoots. i was afrade that to mutch triming can hurt the resin development. is this true? much like triming to many leaves at once will stress.

Well trimming the growth that is shaded by the top of the plant anyway doesn't do any harm - in my experience all it does is improve the bud that is left. If it's in shadow, it's hardly doing as much photosynthesis as it could be and therefore won't develop as well, and well 'steal' nutrients/carbs etc from other parts of the plants to do what little growing it can. As long as the top 1/3 of the plant is healthy and there are some nice fan leaves up there, it will be fine.

Also, something people often forget about, is it increases airflow through the plant (breathing room, as you said), and this is good because; A - It reduces the chances of mold growing and; B - Cannabis 'breathes' through the bottom of its leaves, so making sure a good amount of air can get to the bottom of the leaves is always a benefit (This is also one of the reasons people advice to have ur air intake toward the bottom of your grow room and the extractor fan at the top).

after veging my plant 58 days, from seed. she grew about 3 ft tall, to tall for my grow cab. so when i put her into flower, i laid her over onto her side, proceded to bend the branch but it snaped. most people would freek , but i have broken stalks before and have seen the results, on my last grow one plant out grew my cabonet, and had to do the same. when i snaped over the main center stalk laied it over and watched her go crazy. buds got big & fat . the rest of the plant grew good but not as good ase the stalk that i snaped, the buds on the lower plant were average 2 - 3 grams each but the branch i broke the buds were 5 -7 grams each the top was 2 1/2 oz. my box is only 3x4x4 with 400w mh. i was very hapy.pix will come later, sory.

LST kicks ass if you like to have a long veg period. It can be a lot of fun too! You can make your plants grow into circle shapes and things haha, it's pretty cool!
