To pot up at all or not to..

Here’s a pic of 2 seedlings autos which broke the soil on April 8th. They were in 4 inch pots Mins ago. I didn’t notice any roots and some of the medium fell apart as I was transplanting. They are in 5 g pots now. It seems to me I transplanted way too early... as there wasn’t much root structure holding the medium together. Any thoughts? Just growing slow?
Pretty typical of my experience with auto's so far. They put so much energy into sending that one tap root down they don't send out all the little roots that a photo would so they don't hold the medium together as well.

ahhh okay... I think I will become a big fan of droping that seed in its finished pot from now on! Lmao. Thanks for your help btw! Much appreciated

Maybe an extra couple days in the solo cups might have been ok. But it's way to early to say they are behind or "slow".

My last grow was my first time growing in coco, and it was an epic fail on the Xplant aswell. Seems peat sticks together better. But they pulled though ok in the end.

That's what I'm talking about Sawzall. I'm the worst at transplanting seedlings. I PLACE the jiffy pellet in, day after sprout. I'm the village idiot and can't screw it up.

Update time... here are some pics, definitely having a few issues on some plants. A couple seem to be thriving from what I can tell but let me share..
pics 1 and 6. ultimate Dutch passion drive surface March 30th. Was stunted early by something? Lol I transplanted into 5g pot and does look better but growth is slow!
2nd pic is Bruce banner pretty much same situation as the ultimate. If anything she looks healthier... i stress the ier because things still aren’t right. She is only in a 2g fabric pot
3rd pic is amnesia dinafem broke surface April 9th and seems to be happy
Pic 4,5 also amnesia dinafem which also broke surface April 9th and is my strongest and looks happy.

Also thanks to you guys I started both amnesia in their final pots 5g and they are the two happiest! Lol

I grow and breed a fuck ton of autos and never touch them. Even if they start in a 1 gal they stay in that 1 gal. The first few weeks for roots is crucial. From my experience as soon as the tap root hits bottom and spreads out in whatever type pot you use it will almost always trigger early flower. I can have early pistils as soon as 7 days in solo cups vs same strain in 3gal go 21 days before first sign of sex.

So I’m used to growing photos. I’m getting ready to pop a bunch of autos and am really wondering whether I should drop the seeds in 5g/7g pots from seed or 4 inch pot, then final pot. Any comments suggestions would be awesome. Will be growing....

From germination to final pot will get you the best results, if you do decide to transplant, be fragile, water with a root stimulator after ttransplanting and have it in your final pot by about day ten, before 2 weeks. From there just let it grow, I give mine 19 hours light / 5 hours dark (18 hours light is considered the mínimum if you want a decent yield, outdoors would require a mínimum of 6 hours direct sun light and mínimum of 12 hour days) I reccomend HPS mixed sectrum bulbs for the full life of Autos - as from 400w. Fertwise it would really depend on the soil you decide to use.... Heavy Mix soils with nutrients for both veg and flowering + adding some natural bud sweetening sugars after about week 5 until the last 10 days before harvest. Then for the last 10 days I water with distilled water.

Hey there, thanks for sharing your knowledge I appreciate it! I’m growing under a 100w MH atm. Should I switch to the hps sooner rather than later? I was going to wait another week at least but maybe I should have even started with hps. As you can see in the pics they are all small but that will change pretty quick I imagine lol.

Also growing in organic compost( different mixes and then all combined) lots of perlite, some vermiculite. Everything is fresh out of the bag. I’m assuming I’m ok for nutrients and don’t need to really feed until flowering? Is there a medium that Autos prefer among others?

My largest autos by weight have always been coco but that's only because I'm in control. My soil autos are usually smaller but usually have better taste and smell

Any idea as to why she is droopy? Noticeably much worse after lights on not long ago...
Also is there something up with the small seedling or is it just me... other plants in same tent or doing much better so hmmmm

If she is reacting to the light then she is more focused on her root system than photosynthesising.

It’s also caused by too much water.

I transplant mine from 1l air-pots to their final home. Usually around the 10 day mark.

Watering that size of plant in that pot is tricky. Too little and the bottom dries out - too much and it’s going to be overwatered big time.

I find the growth to be more rapid in smaller pots but as others have mentioned it’s crucial to transplant before it triggers early flowering.

What I don’t quite grasp yet I guess is this taproot on these autoflower. When you say transplanting after only 10 days from germ. Don’t you find the medium doesn’t stay together nicely because there’s not enough of a root structure

You can grow decent sizes in gallon bags ... I wanted a SOG style but kind of blew up. So I just run 1gallon sizes and some 3 gallon which are run solo for size. I don’t transplant .... I sow seed in whatever size I feel I need , plant and let it do it’s thing.
LST only.
