To the older crowds around RIU - can you remember some of the old toys you had?

Pretty much all my toys were from the early to late 60's, discovered tit's and girls(1971) and left that stuff behind if that narrows down my age. "The Strange Change Time Machine" was one of my favorites and I remember practically salivating at the prospect of finally getting it on Xmas morning in 1967 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgFKAr7wfdg&feature=player_detailpage It did have the nasty habit of getting pretty hot to the touch. I'm fairly certain that with the way children are protected now there is absolutely no way it would be sold to anyone over 18...Oh well we never saw a bike helmet either and somehow survived.

@ dam612 I'm more of a NES girl really. When I was little and I got stroppy during a shoot, the photographer would bribe me with a couple of goes and lots of juice when it was over X3

@ganjames

It's awesome there's still a demand, respect and appreciation for retro toys- just because it's old doesn't mean it's not good- same deal with music.

I play the first gen Pokemo games on my DS Lite after mama threw them out! Grr... I spent YEARS on those, and I was fucking around with MissingNO and other glitches while I had a completed game too.

There have been updated versions, like the Simpsons ones you could get from the late 90's onwards as well as the original. It's still about...

I was looking at the new pokemon games on the dsi to relive the old pokemon days but they look so lame.
Wtf is up with all of these new random fucking pokemon?

I would rather stick to the classics.

Yeah, I think they went to shit after Ruby and Sapphire. The improved graphics, story, features and infinite replay value were a great addition but that same spirit was still there. The newer ones... No. And I won't even touch Leaf Green and Fire Red because they messed with it far too much. What was up with the safari zone?

You can still enjoy the good times on your DSi, they're actually meant to support SD cards unlike the DSLite so if I can play Pokemon Red to my heart's content (with a bigger brighter screen :3) then so should you <3

I want to play it on a handheld system, not my computer. And I'm not jail breaking my iphone.

If I had the dsi I could download them to an sd card and just use that. (like kuroitaima said)

Cool, my friend has it on his Iphone. I have an iphone (hell yeah, I got it free on contract and handed down) but I prefer playing it on my DS with all the buttons and shizz.

And Pokemon pinball ftw, I still have my strategy guides for all the games and the pokemon anniversary special of Official Nintendo Magazine. Btw someone cool should probably start a Pokemon thread because we sort of derailed this one X3

We took a lot of damage back then. Before it was considered "child abuse". I had welts on my back from a beating I got from my dad with a belt. Today that would put his ass in jail. :p

(I was underage drinking)

My dad would just look at me and I knew he could fuck me up. My parents raised me strictly but never once had to raise a hand to me and I behave better than the kids who got battered and were still disrespectful little shits. The parents of my friends think I'm too well behaved abd find it 'creepy'. I'm just shocked at the way my friends speak to their parents and their general manners.

I'm sure there is a time and place for corporal punishment if it is not just out of anger. It depends on the maturity and character of the kid though, too.
