topping is so personal...depends on if your grown for yourself or others...if yourself n you have the room let them grow its more potent that way others say top it only decreases it a little while gaining massive buds so its up to the grower...y not top 1 leave 1

That's only true if you don't give your bigger plant more nutes & light & water. Plus if you use UVB, you can have the best bud around no matter what.

k thnx for the advice i think i am going to split them up top and fim my two shorties and let the others grow o' natural and learn from it form my next grow which will be in bubble buckets not soil

If you want a true test, don't forget to top for 4 colas too.

Wait till you see the 6th "true" node
Then top at the 2nd true node

Waiting till you see the 6th node is more of a guide line to make sure you have a good enough root system, but you have to top at the 2nd node.

Sorry forgot to post this. It will help understanding FIM so when you make your cut it has a better chance of coming out right.

Take about 80% of the grow tip and use the highest grow tip on the stem.

And the guy I learned this from, the one that made that monster in the pic always trims everything off below the FIM. Not all at once of course, but he gets it off as soon as he can. He says the plant can send more energy to the colas that way.

Some also do that on the 4 cola topping technique.

Hope that helps

Sorry man, I've never done any topping or fimming after starting flower and I don't want to give bad advice.

I have been told not to change the light scedule right after changing it. I was told it confuses the plant, whatever that means. The guy had a Mr. Ganja rating though.

There's always next time. Here are a couple of threads you might want to save as a favorite or subscribe to. So you can read up on it for yourself before trying it. There's no way I can relay all the info in these threads.

i just switched the lights around 12 hrs ago will it mess with it if it was that short of a time? does any one know

that depends. If you can still switch it back without interupting the cycle you had last time, then yeah (if you had her on 18/6 and 12 hrs ago the lights went on like they would normally do under 18/6 but haven't gone off yet, then of course your OK, you plant's none the wiser)

If you've already taken her out of her usualy schedule then I'm sure it would depend on how far out of her schedule she is. i wouldn't risk it without asking someone who knows more in this area, just not worth the risk of ending up with a hermie.

Yea man i wouldnt reckon it will mess with your plant at all by switching back 24 hours, the plants hormones take time to change thats why it doesnt flower for a week or two after the switch so after one day the plant will barely have noticed the llight difference! Just dont make a habit of it!

definitely top it... go read uncle ben's thread if you haven't.. best topping thread ive seen... go for 4 colas... he explains it all in detail, be careful what u ask him in his thread though lol.. apparently he's a stickler for not goin off topic

and if u want, check these 2 out.. topped for 3 and 4 colas respectively.. ok, 3 was an accident, lil slip of the wrist and i cut off a growth chute by accident.. or it woulda been 4 and 4 lol

i agree with collie buddz, and im listenin to them right now as well hahaha. For my first grow, I topped the plant, according to what I didnt know was "uncle bens topping technique" until just recently. but got good results with it using just CFLs, cant wait to see what the 400 watter will do!!

Hey, got some info for you. I found something today.......
Mycorrhiza you can read up on it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mycorrhiza

Now I'm not sure if roots still grow during flower, but if they do then you want to get some now. If not then you'll want to get some on your next grow.

In a nut shell, it helps your roots grow bigger and stronger faster, it helps roots absorb and process more of everything, and it even helps clones root faster. Definately a must have.

There are several products and brands that have it. Just get one with low nutes so you can add it to your regular watering schedule.

It's a lot cheaper at a Nursery ($13 a qt) than at a grow store ($40 a qt). You can mix it with the soil when you mix your pots, you can dig holes at the edge of your roots and burry some to feed established plants, and you can water with it. And it's also good for when you transplant.

No matter which technique you try, you'll want to add this to your plans. It will help all those colas get as big as possible. And I'm convinced that you'll need it if you want to build a monster like in the pic I posted on page 2.

I hope that helps some.
