OK, this is going to be a odd question, but I was wondering if I can grow a tomato plant along side a weed plant in a hydro set up without compromising the weed. Not in the same pot, but with the same res. & nutes.
Sounds crazy but I got my reasons:mrgreen:

Thanks mate! If I wanted a very small tomato plant, when would I need to flip it? Does it go on 12/12 like weed?
I'm sorry, you can see I no nothing about tomatos:-?

It isnt light cycles that determine fruit plants it is a hormone, so your lighting regime wont make any diff.

tomatoes are "autoflowering" regardless of the light cycle
All fruit plants are hormone driven when it comes to their fruiting phase, you could say 'autoflowering' I suppose. Its more like a timing mechanism that ensures that fruit is produced, so seeds are spread and so on and so on. Guaranteed reproduction.

your reasons

1. Tomatoes are VERY expensive where you live
2. Your girl is pregnant and has cravings for fresh tomatoes
3. you want to try and produce tomannabis, a THC packed fruit great in salads.

close?

Lol, very nice:mrgreen: but my reason is far more 'primitive'
I was very busy building my new grow space, and my 8 year old with his imense brain figured out within minutes what the intake was needed for (as in fresh air for plants) next he figured out that the fans must be for ventilation etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all legal, have my card etc. but didn't want him to have to keep a secret, so I told him we can groe vegetables in there:twisted:. To which he replied: I can't wait.

So,if I do not want to be a lier I have to produce some veggies

So Woomeister, is it possible then to keep the plant small or is that done with strain?

you can keep it a large or as small as you please, it depends on how long you veg for. The sativa will stretch more than an indica.

Lol, yeah, I was not clear there. I meant the tomato plant , since it is triggered by hormones.

I knew you meant Toms and found the indica sativa comment quite weird for a moment!! Tomato plants (from my experience) grow according to strain. They are much harder to keep small as they are designed to hold heavy fruits.

As for your reasons +rep. My little boy (2 1/2yrs old) Thinks we have a dragon in the loft called Derek that Daddy has to feed every now and again!! He thinks its amazing that theres a dragon in the loft!!!!

That reminds me of a simpsons episode where home crosses tomatos and tobacco. God I wish this were possible. I love tomatos as is, a tomato sandwich with 15% THC tomatos would be godly

I used to grow a short determinate variety that was called "Stakeless" because the stem was so thick you didnt need to stake or cage it. Nice medium sized fruits that tasted great. Just about any determinate variety would work, because they usually dont get more than a couple feet tall.

Another question I have is, why is it that tomatoes have sometimes a flowery texture on the inside? What causes that?
