Im doing great with my cfl grow right now but all these bulbs everywhere are getting to be a pain in my ass.
kiss-ass

I thought about going with a 400 watt HPS but I think heat would be an issue for me and my current situation.

So where can I buy the cheapest 125-250 watt cfls?

i got my 250watt cfl from ebay always a bargin to be found on their. if you can handle the heat get a hps you will definitly be better off in the long run. i only use my HPS in the winter with a fan in the grow room just to keep the air moving around and its usually fine but im in the UK so it gets really fukin cold here lol

big v small. to me small has more advantages because you can place them anywhere around your plants

Lowe's in my area had 65 watt CFL's which = 300w regular. It was HUGE though, the bulb itself probably a foot long. It was about $18 for one, I believe, and it provides 3900 lumens from what I recall.

I chose instead to get 4x 45 watt CFL's for $38 total (from Amazon.com) that provide 2800 lumens each for a total of 11,200 lumens.

Can anyone tell me though, I am planning on growing one plant in a 1x1x3 foot space. Is this enough light or is it possibly too much? I am planning on placing the fan so that it blows through the CFL's onto the plants, cooling the lights as well. Good idea or no?

yeah that should work for that small of space
what is the k on those bulbs?
and i do the fan idea myself so it doesn't burn the plants,
that way you can keep the light closer
