Too much Light

So this is my first grow, I've been reading and it said 800-1200 watts for a 4x4 grow tent. I was gonna run 2 Phlizon 2500 450 Watt Cree Cob lights and a 150 Watt HPS in the middle. Smaller HPS, to keep the heat down. Is this touch for a 4x4

Generally half of what’s recommended for hid is a good place to start with led. I have a 4x4 with a 480w Marshydro fce 4800, a 2x4 with 3 150w(dimmed to 100) generic leds and another 4x4 with 1000w hps all perform about the same.

Not in the winter really, still have to run the ac during lights on on warmer nights but the tent doesn’t get over 80 if I keep the room at 73. I’m using an open reflector too. In the summer though it’s costly to cool, I’ll be swapping it out for led next harvest thinking the fce8000 in a 5x5.

See I was planning to go with the 150W Hps only because I ready they were great for flowering. Most things said that LED was better, but I kept seeing that a HPS in flowering increases density.

Compared to mh or old blurple leds sure, but modern full spectrum leds grow nice dense buds and it’s way easier to see too.

Uhm, do you already own the lights? If not get something else. This really is not good.

Gavita says their 1700e is a direct replacement for a 1000w HID. In a 4 x 4 area. The 1700e is rated at 1700umol, but is really 1781umol.

A 1000w Hortilux HPS is 1880 umol

The Gavita is 645 watts.

Going by their recommendation, thats 40.3w Sq/ft to put out the same or close umol as a 1000w HID. Using the best diodes of course.

Also IMHO many LED light manufacturers overrate the area their lights can cover efficiently.

A 400w ( Technically 387w ) LED would be the equivalent to a 600w HID. A 600w HIS will cover a 3 x 3 area, and is 66w Sq/ft. I use Hortilux as my model because on average their bulbs have the highest umol rating for HID bulbs, except the Ushio 1000w HID bulb is rated at 2100umol. The same as a DE Gavita at 1150w. It will cover a 5 x 5 area depending on the hood.

Luckily, no I don't. The reviews for them.were great. That's why I picked them. Thanks
I got rid of a 400w HID setup and replaced it with a 300w MARSHYDRO FCE3000

First picture was my first attempt at a full footprint scrog.

See, that's beautiful. Hopefully mines will go that well.
You're on the right track doing research before you buy. Just keep reading up on different aspects of the grow-temperature, relative humidity, nutrients/EC/feeding schedules, etc and keep asking questions as you grow, you'll be growing like a pro in no time!

I'm new to this and was killing mine with way too much light as well. I'm learning.
