Top feed drip on coco coir

Hi,

Just starting out with coco coir and Canna coco nutes for flowering using a top feed recirculating system.

I will be using 8" containers in a 3' X 3' area using a 600W HPS.

I am wondering where to start with the number of cycles per day and length if each cycle The most frequent I've been told is once a day which seems like not enough. I realize I simply have to watch the first few days and see how the plants respond, but thought someone might offer some of their experiences with top feed recirculating systems.

If the frequency turns out to really be that low I might just drain to waste so I know exactly what the plant is getting.

Thanks

I use coco-coir in my flood and drain system and I only water once per day. I noticed that that was what Al B Fuct was doing so I cut mine down to the same, didn't notice any difference from the three times a day I had been using. VV

I've never used coir in hydro, I tried some once and found it too messy. But that was flood and drain, and it's better suited for dripping. With a dense media like that, once in the morning is usually enough. You can check it for yourself. Fill several containers with coir, wet them evenly once, and then dump one out in 2 days, 3 days and 4 days, and you'll see just how wet the stuff is each time.
