Look what happens when the top 2/10ths of the top 1 percent have names! Now we not only know what money was cut from vital services, but we know who took it.

Maybe We Deserve to Be Ripped Off By Bush's Billionaires by Matt Taibbi is a must read.
We've always known that only a very small group of the country's wealthiest were collecting most of the tax breaks. The argument is an old one that hasn't gained as much traction as it should. Matt Taibbi's article does something different with the argument. He takes Bush's proposed budget and assigns names to the tax breaks. We see that:
Bush offered a budget that offers $32.7 billion in tax cuts to the Wal-Mart family alone, while cutting $28 billion from Medicaid.
Cox family (Cox cable TV) receives $9.7 billion tax break while education would get $1.5 billion in cuts
...the family of former Exxon/Mobil CEO Lee Raymond, who received a $400 million retirement package, would receive about $164 million in tax breaks.
Compare that to the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, which Bush proposes be completely eliminated, at a savings of $108 million over ten years.

And the spin is in the red above: It's true that Bush proposed the elimination of the Commodity Supplemental Food Program for Seniors, but the Spinmeisters don't mention that the proposal also included that the eliminated program was ... TO BE REPLACED BY FOOD STAMPS. This would have meant the same amount of food, fresher food ... and with less fraud involved. And yes ... it would have saved the taxpayer money. And ... to throw the elimination of a federal program in with the class envy BS of "tax cuts for the rich" is nothing more than anti-Bush propaganda.

Ya just gotta try harder Med ...

Yeah, Vi you would cut the Medicaid for unwed mothers who have no means of support... How big of you.
You would starve the children of poor people just to line your pockets...
Yet you support a maniacal administration who is bent on world domination and spends money like a drunken sailor to fight a war we don't need to be in. Talk about screwed up priorities.
I say help out our own people first….

I think you've been drinking some of Med's Kool Aid. To answer your above post, I've got to split it into two parts. First ... You have never seen me espouse cutting Medicaid for unwed mothers, or supporting the starvation of children. And, even if the government stopped all support for these two groups it wouldn't make a hill 'O beans difference to my pocket. The government would just transfer the money over to some other nonsensiical program like supporting military bases where they are no longer needed.

For the second part, I don't believe the administration is bent on "world domination" at all. You, of course have the right to think differently. And ... I am on record here as saying that I DON'T support Bush's spending policies. And, I say help our own people first too ... through voluntary charity.
