Topped my plant at 7 weeks into flower

So I topped my plants at 7 weeks into flower in prepperation for second bloom. It's been 4 days and I have yet to see the roots of new plants sprouting from where I topped the nugs. Any pointers would be appreciated. Im a seasoned grower but this one's stumping me!

Should I stick tooth picks into the topped colas of my plants (cut the colas in half). I hear that will stimulate the new plants to take root out of said colas.

Is there a limit to the tooth pick trick or just kinda eyeball it? Also what do I do with the excess buds that I topped off the plants? They're startin to stink up the place and it's pissing of my 48 year old brother.

Stick the excess bud into a pot of soil an it will regrow (exactly the same as a potatoe will) works everytime..
