I have 3 girls just showing at 7 weeks, I never topped them. They are just about a week into preflowers & i still have them on 24/0. I figure i would leave them on 24/0 for few more weeks to let them get bigger.
I was thinking now would be agood time to take my clones. Can i top each plant and take a branch or 2 off the bottom at the same time?? They are Blueberry strain. I figured i would just clone the tops as well. Man they reeek! yeha

you sure can. bb is a pain in the butt to clone, but can be done; they just take longer, av for me, three weeks.

you can use the top, but it will not root as easily, as the hormones and auxins at that part of the plant tell it to grow apically, and lacks hormones to grow roots. that's why bottom branches work better. but, i repeat, you can root tops. i do all the time.

also, if you didn't know, you are doing right topping blueberry; bb yeilds are quite atrocious unless topped. i top at ten nodes, and veg for two additional weeks, then flower.

hope that helps...

Thanks KP..I heard the minimum of 3" for cloning, is this correct? When i cut what about the fan leave below do you just pitch it?

Im wondering about the 3" because a few of my tops are about an inch...Cheers:joint:

Its saying when making multiple cuts off of 1 branch submerge the whole branch/cut into the medium...
Im confused..So i will cut 1 branch cut 45deg across just above each shoot (thats what the pic shows)....What about the top cut on the branch I am going to submerge the whole cut in the medium so the top cut is not exposed? Does this mean it will root off of each eand of the branch cut??

Your roots will grow down the entire lenght of the stem or the part you covered with rooting gel. The leaf will remain sticking out. That is where the new growth will come from the rest will form your root structure.

i have not had a problem getting roots to explode out of my berry's.

i use rockwool clone dome and power gel. 8-10 days for solid roots

babe, i'm the wrong one to ask, as my standard practice is called micro cloning by some; i use little slips most of the time, burrying only one node. my slips range from 1''-3'', usually right at 2''....

some prefer longer cuts, i go smaller; it gives me an extra week or so to store them, as they take longer to realy start growing again...if that makes sense...

i try to have plants no more than 14'' tall when going to flower.
