Topping for cola's

Right, i know this question will have come up before. But i have searched and not found a proper answer

I am looking to top my plant for 4 main cola's

On UncleBens thread he say cut above the 2nd true node


Now is the bit that i can not work out:

I have read some people say the first node is where you get a leaf set of 1,

others say when leaf set of 3,

and yet others say when you get a leaf set of 5.

My questions is, where is the first true node?

First set of leaves(the single ones)other than the cots is the first true node. And thats what UBs method is based on.

First time topping lol, gotta start somewhere.

Just got unsure since i saw all the diffrent places people called true nodes

His method is pretty simple. Just wait until the 5th or 6th nodes appears and pinch away for 2 or 4.....

Im planning on topping, the doing LST aswell

I was thinking about doing that also haha i wanna see how they react so ima top 1....and LST other....if recovers well i will do both to 1

I thought topping would only give 2 new shoots, whereas FIMMING would give the chance of 4 colas.
Am I wrong?

I have several in flower i've topped using UB's method. This one's at 5 1/2 wks.....

I still have to watch what/ who people are talking about, U. Buck, or U. Ben.
I tried FIMMING, and didn't get low enough or something, and ended up with only 2 tops.

I'm a 1st time grower and am thinking about topping or fimming. My seeds were fully sprouted by Jan10. They're growing fast now that I have my ph dialed in. So I'm almost 2 1/2 weeks into it. How much longer until I should top or fim, as in how many node regions should you have before topping?

There is a difference between fimming for more tops vs UB method for 2 or 4 main colas.
